What's your favorite shot in golf?

27 members have voted

  1. 1. Which is your favorite shot in golf?

    • A perfectly struck driver ideally leaving your foursome 40 yards behind.
      3
    • A perfectly struck long iron, cruising toward the center of a distant green.
      16
    • A perfectly struck fairway wood, (or hybrid) sailing toward reaching that par 5 in two. (If you hit irons into par 5's in two, blow me.)
      2
    • An impressive wedge shot or chip from off the green that finds the bottom of the cup.
      3
    • A sand shot from a greenside bunker that gets you up and down to save par.
      0
    • A long putt that finds the bottom of the cup and makes your playing partners gasp.
      2
    • A fairway bunker shot?????
      0
    • Some other shot I didn't mention... maybe the first shot at the 19th hole?

This is a throw away survey. There are no right answers and it's in no way controversial.

In my opinion there isn't anything better in golf than a perfectly struck drive that's flying powerfully down the fairway. But perhaps you disagree. What's your favorite shot?

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Definitely long iron for me. Probably the least frequent I get to enjoy as well (the Golf Gods have ensured that for me).

For me...it is the shot that materializes exactly as I imagined.  It can be a drive, a putt, or anything in between.  Typically...the longer the better.  A longer shot gives you more time to enjoy it.  With that in mind...my favorites include the landing and roll-out.  I've never had a hole in one, or holed out from the fairway, but I'd bet the memory lasts forever.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

The poll shouldn’t be multiple choice right?

I'm not sure it matters. I just made it that way in case somebody feels equally excited about stripping a drive as holing a long putt. It's just a little noncontaversial conversation starter.

Lot of good options but I chose drive. When I’m driving it well I’m usually playing well.

Although I like any shot that I strike well, that also lands near my chosen targeted area, my all time favorite is my flop shot up to +/- 60 yards. The shorter the better.

It's a very easy shot for me to pull off anytime I try it.

Driver.

No one's talking about Cam Champ's iron shots or any other shots.

Of course, putt for dough.

My favorite to strike isn't the same as my favorite to watch. Putt for dough is dead.

My favorite is a perfectly struck long iron towards a tough pin and it just sticks. Drives are great but thats a norm for me to be way past.

Tell that to Spieth, Woods and everyone else on tour.

No need. They know exactly what I’m talking about.

Putting is the least important of the four main categories.

And… I wrote a book in the subject.
