Shorts On Tour

I would imagine sponsors like Nike, Puma, Adidas etc would be fans of the pro’s wearing shorts. I would think a majority of the people on this site wear shorts in season

Eek, I think the fact that I wear shorts is not a great way to convince the PGA tour to let their players where them. 
Yeah, I wear them all the time, but does anyone actually want to see me in them.

I do wear shorts sometimes these days, but have grown up wearing pants and still think that is the way to go.  Call it tradition, the fact that people generally look better in pants unless they have awesomely muscular legs or the ability of better designed clothing with long pants especially on TV, and I struggle to see why pro's would ever be allowed to wear shorts on tour.  Yes, the pic earlier in this thread of Brooks makes a compelling argument, but he is honestly in the minority of pro's who look good in shorts

Spent about 10 minutes watching Liv on the CW yesterday and mostly I was looking at Peter Uihlein hunting around the woods in his shorts. 

Frankly, the guy looked a little too much like some of the characters I share a course with.

I thought this was something I didn't care about. But I had a negative reaction to seeing LIV players in shorts during the tournaments. I don't know exactly why - I guess it looks a little sloppier and less professional. Also, a lot of golfers have ugly legs. I'm sure it's something I'd get used to quickly, but it was surprising how jarring I found it.

I have to agree. Before I saw it, I thought "No big deal". Then I saw it and thought "Ugh". 

Like you, I'm sure it wouldn't take me long to get used to it.

For me it’s not really about thinking it’s appropriate but rather preferred? When I saw Tiger for the first time in person…it just seemed more real when he came strolling by dressed in a light blue polo with black slacks. He was a professional. That’s what professional golfers wear. It just seems had he strolled by in shorts…it wouldn’t have had the same kick….IMO.

As someone who loves playing golf in shorts I cannot fault a golfer, professional or otherwise who wants to play in shorts. I don't think it looks any less professional, but to each his own.

Fair enough. I've never loved what strikes me as the stodgy element in golf. But it clearly strikes others differently. I will say that using Tiger is an unfair example. He's got shockingly bad style Even other 40-somethings mostly know that what were in the ugly dimension of stylish shorts in the mid 90s for God's sake shouldn't be worn 30 years later! Tiger never got that memo.

I sent a memo to Tiger once, but I don't think he read it.  

I've always thought of Tiger as "fashion forward".  Though I think his "people" dressed him... the Nike folks.  Not sure if that is still the case.
