Music on the Course - When Did This Become a Thing?
ElWagonne replied to wedge player's topic in Golf Talk
I do it, but if I'm outside of my normal crew, I'd ask to see if it was ok. -
Have you played golf on Thanksgiving or another holiday?
ElWagonne replied to bkuehn1952's topic in Golf Talk
For the most part, Christmas Day is the only day courses are completely closed around here (TX). I've got a special golf folder full of Thanksgiving shotguns (last week would've been a great day to play too). I've done NYE but the other days, golf is pretty far off the radar. -
I think it would for those that don't get a chance to play for the Ryder Cup. 8 teams would be cool too, but the flip side of that would be are the pros willing to play 6 rounds of golf.
-
I voted yes. But it should be a hybrid solution. Each team has 5 golfers, 3 amateurs & 2 pros. The first 3 rounds are like qualifying for a NCAA tournament event. Low am after 3 rounds gets the gold + exemptions to the next years' majors. Top 4 teams play match play after that to determine a team gold.

Still trending down. 10.1 as of today. Apparently, adjusting to this thing called 'marriage' affects your golf game.

Exactly. the South gets no major championship love, and because people moan about the heat, we probably never will. Maybe the powers that be will think about a Ryder/President's Cup down here, since September more or less eliminates the heat excuse.

Are we really calling Kiawah Island 'easy'?

Just re-established my GHIN handicap in March. The handicap is trending down. Found a driver I'm really comfortable with and my cap has gone down from a 13.1 in April to a 10.8, buoyed by a 77 & 79 at my new home course. Goal is to get the cap down far enough to try to qualify for some Texas amateur events (one has a limit of 8.4, so still have some work to do)

I voted Van De Velde. Especially since he was able to make fun of himself by going back and playing the same hole with a putter and making a 6.

Next generation will try to emulate the new 'Big 4'. Problem is, 2 of the 4 are turtles on the course, which does not bode well for newbies. I did find it funny about Sir Faldo, who was no Usain Bolt on the course, telling Speith to get on with it. Guess it takes one to know one lol.

In due time, Phil and Tiger will be there. For the more immediate future, if you asked me who would be on the first tee in 2020, I'd likely guess Watson, Crenshaw and Nicklaus. In 2020, Player will be 84 and although bionic, he'll either be going strong as the elder of a big 4, or stepping aside on his own.

Arnold Palmer on CBS Masters 2nd Rnd Highlights
ElWagonne replied to Frank-0-Sport's topic in Tour Talk
I'd probably insert Crenshaw in there somewhere. Don't see Vijay honestly, and Tiger/Phil still have a little left in the tank. -
This being on the clock is going to rattle Spieth. DeChambeau is putting up quite the tussle too.

I gotta say, Augusta National, Bethpage Black and Winged Foot are my trio.

You appear to have taken a throwaway line, possibly said in jest and used it as an opportunity to get on your high horse. Does anyone know the type of parent Tiger is, no, and based on Tiger's guarded nature, we probably never will.

No worries, but every year I go to the Nelson, I see one or two.

Lightning in a bottle, Who is the Worst Player to Have Won a Major
ElWagonne replied to Wally Fairway's topic in Tour Talk
This reminds me of these media guys did a one on one contest w/ Brian Scalabrine and he just busted them up like they were middle schoolers. But to answer the question of the post.....Shaun Micheel is the obvious answer. -
Pretty much anytime I'm playing or at the range. Sidenote: You look silly if you're walking around at a tournament with golf shoes on.

2016 Arnold Palmer Invitational Discussion Thread

The course didn't help things with the Nelson either. I agree that the Memorial won't have this issue, even if they lose that choice spot as more or less a last tune up for the US Open. I've never heard a bad word said about Muirifield Village. -
2016 Arnold Palmer Invitational Discussion Thread
ElWagonne replied to boogielicious's topic in Tour Talk
Palmer's tournament is in a weird spot on the schedule. Next week is a WGC event and 2 weeks after that is the Masters. It's almost like the Palmer is starting to fall off like the Nelson. Sad but true. -

I finally pulled the trigger on a SC after being an Odyssey loyalist. I like the weight of the putter and the name doesn't hurt either. (SC is similar to Apple IMO, good products, but you do pay a bit more for the name recognition)
