Quote:

Retiring caddie Steve Williams told an Australian news agency on Wednesday that he would “consider” a reunion with Tiger Woods if the former world No. 1 requested his services.

Last month Adam Scott and Williams announced that they were parting ways after 3 ½ years because Williams, 50, had expressed a desire to work only on a part-time basis.

Williams added Wednesday that he was “90 percent” certain that he was hanging up his caddie bib for good, but said Woods would be “someone I’d definitely consider” down the road.

“He’s a tremendous talent, but it’s hard to say right now because it’s only two weeks since I’ve hung up the clubs,” he said, according to the report.

Williams worked for Woods from 1999-2011, teaming to win 13 majors during that span. Their relationship ended bitterly, with Woods firing Williams in summer 2011 after he caddied for Scott during a tournament. Joe LaCava has been on Woods’ bag since Sept. 2011.

In this new report, Williams said that he has received a couple of caddie offers but wasn’t sure what he would do in 2015.

Would Woods ever consider hiring Stevie Williams again down the road?

No.

Stevie's just saying that so he can look like the good guy. He has already said he wants to semi-retire, so this is out of left field.

As often as Tiger is injured and WD before tournaments this would be semi retired. No?

My only problem with golf is that I am usually standing too close to the ball............ after I hit it.

A girl and a guy date for 13 years....they break up and start dating other people....then one of them breaks up and wants the other back who's still dating someone else. It's like a normal relationship.

I just think Stevie is still upset the way things ended and wants another shot to caddie Tiger. I think that's the bottom line. However, I don' t think Tiger gives him another shot. I think too much damage has been done. But then again, I don't know the inners of their relationship. Anything can happen.

Tiger isn't looking for a part time caddy, add the various comments Stevie has made since he and Tiger split, I'm going with a big fat no.

Yeah, I wouldn't see them getting back together, even if he wasn't planning on semi-retiring. We only know what the media and the two themselves tells us, but the breakup didn't seem clean enough for either wanting to go back.

Tiger's record in majors is only rivaled by his epic grudge-holding .  Nothing to see here.

I'll ride the other horse and vote yes. I say yes only because their personalities fit one another.  A proven major winning caddy with a golfer, with no coach,  who seems to be struggling. It would be tough to blame the caddy in this instance. Then again that's probably a good reason why they won't reunite with each other. Woody could do a lot worse than Stevie.

I voted "Yes", it's a long shot but I can't rule it out completely.  Tiger at some point needs to acknowledge that his past actions put a lot of friends in tough situations and he has to own his share of why Stevie and him split.

Joe is a good caddie, but he doesn't have the history of success with Tiger that Stevie does.   If Tiger still wants to chase Jack's record he needs to do whatever it takes physically and mentally to have a chance and Stevie might be able to help him.

I'd "consider" taking the job too. Tiger's not likely to want either one of us though.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
