Your Entrance Music

Here's the situation - you are a PGA Tour player in a slightly different world where, in an effort to get fans a little more into it, and to have a little more fun, entrance music is played over the PA as players take the first tee. Couple of quick notes first though. We're not debating whether or not this should really be done, so if your first thought is to complain about how it would ruin the tradition of the game, feel free to move on to the next thread, and have a good day. We're just gonna have a little fun here, that's all.

So the questions are:

  1. What would you come out to?
  2. Would you have different songs for different days? If so, explain.
  3. If this were really allowed, give an example of a real Tour player, and what their music might be.

Here are mine:

  1. Would probably do four different ones, or at least one of the four listed below, so see #2.
  2. Yes, would have one song each for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Thursday - Mystikal - Here I Go

Friday - Audioslave - Cochise

Saturday - Jay-Z - Blueprint 2 (Maybe the instrumental version though, not sure)

Sunday - Ennio Morricone - L'Estasi Dell'oro (The Ecstasy Of Gold)

3. The two that immediately come to mind for Tour players would be Tiger with one of either Me Against The World (2Pac), Hate Me (Blue October), or Iron Man (Black Sabbath), and Phil with AC/DC's Shoot To Thrill, of course :-)

I'd go for Falco's "Der Kommissar", but have heard Kaymer is battling to choose between that and a classic Hasselhoff tune. So for me it's probably going to have to be either Bronski Beat's "Smalltown Boy" -- a poignant echo of the rejection and alienation I too have suffered because of my commitment to alternative swing styles -- or this.

Stretch.

Are we all in agreement that this would be Jeff Overtons music?

Not sure why I keep bringing up Overton, that's like the 3rd or 4th time in the past week. Weird...

When i pitched in college my warming up song would be "bulletproof" by five finger death punch...(i was a starter so i had long enough time to get a good effect) as for golf...hmm...if it were going to be a breezy/windy/rainy round...probably frank sinatra's "summerwind"...if it were a regular round, i'd have to say it'd be "brick in the wall" pink floyd remake by Korn...gets me pissed for some reason lol

Here are mine, or at least the four that I could come up with after a quick scan of my iTunes. And a few in a few cliches for analysis.

Thurday: What I Got by Sublime, because on the first day you have to show everyone what you got.

Friday: I'm a Go Getta by Lil Wayne. I don't really know why, but it's a pretty good song, not your typical Lil Wayne.

Saturday: Beast Mode by B.o.B, because once you make the cut you have to go into beast mode on moving day to get into contention.

Sunday: Superstar by Lupe Fiasco, because Sunday is put up or shut up.

May I also suggest Petty's "American Girls" for the US Women's team in the Solheim (or for Tiger).

OP, great post.

E'rbody, good choices!

Myself, I'm gonna go throwback adult contemporary.  Day 1: Christopher Cross/Sailing; Day 2: Jim Croce/Bad Leroy Brown; Day 3: James Taylor/Fire and Rain; Day 4: Simon and Garfunkel/Sound of Silence.

Some suggested "theme songs" for select touring professionals:

Tiger Woods: Any 2Live Crew song, but probably Me So Horny.

Natalie Gulbis: Ciara/My Goodies.

Tim Herron: Lady GaGa/Born This Way (just feels right).

    • I've played the Tour in both white and yellow.  They play well and seem to hold up pretty good even when running into trees or cart paths.  Right now, I've been trying them against the Bridgestone Tour B RX ball and I really like both.  The Snell 3.0 looks to be a great update to the issues Snell was running into with the previous generation.

    • Day 128: 5/3/24 Spent 10 minutes chipping and putting at The Creek golf course after visiting a relative.  Greens are slow, and I putted quite well. Perhaps I should seek courses with much slower greens!
    • Not to take away from the OP's question but the Snell 3.0 is about all you could ask for in a ball. I'm not a paid spokesman and my opinion does not reflect on the owner of the site. Lexi Thompson could beat most people with a Top Flite, or a Nitro. Ben Griffin? He doesn't offer a lot of street cred so I'll pass. Now if Fat Perez or Heavy Ballesteros start using it then?????? 😀
    • Just read that Peter Oosterhuis passed away. He was the one and only celebrity I have asked for an autograph! In September 2007, I was in the Charlotte Airport awaiting a flight reading my October 2007 Golf Magazine. It was during the FedEx playoffs and Tiger had just won the previous tournament with the Tour Championship the next event. I watched the event listening to the dulcet tones of Peter Oosterhuis, among others. I opened the magazine, and started reading an article about Oosterhuis and the opening picture had him posing as James Bond in a movie’s opening sequence. I looked up from the article and he was sitting directly across from me!    I approached and showed him the article and asked if he would sign the photo. Mr. Oosterhuis asked “Are you keen on golf?” When I responded positively, we spoke for about 10 minutes discussing the fact that both Phil and Tiger had won FedEx events prior to the Tour Championship. He was very gracious and a wonderful storyteller. I was saddened by his battles with dementia and missed him on CBS’s telecasts.
