Double eagle would be -4, so I prefer albatross.

Lol ... I never thought of it that way (and I am a numbers geek so you'd think I would have)

How about triple birdie?

What's an albatross?

I use the term double-eagle.

Gary McCord was debating this exact thing with someone the other day during the telecast. I have always called it a double eagle. Albatross makes makes sense though since technically double eagle would be -4.

A hat trick is three in a row.

A double hat trick is four in a row.

Therefore, the term "double eagle" makes sense.

I was hearing and calling it a double eagle for 30 years before I ever heard the term "albatross" used.  Gene Sarazen's famous "shot heard round the world" in the 1935 Masters was always called a double eagle.  As far as I'm concerned that's what it is and always shall be.

I thought a golden sombrero was striking out 4 times in a baseball game.

If you ask me... an "eagle" as it is should be a Double Birdie (-2) and (-3) should be an eagle.

Correct.  That is really the only time we used it.  And striking out 3 times was a hat trick.  I've can't say I've ever heard the term golden sombrero used in a positive sense, i.e. for 4 goals in a hockey or soccer game, but I know for sure I've never heard anybody say "double hat trick."  Seems like that would only come if they got 6 goals.  Even then, certainly there would be a better name for it than that.
