A lot of people think he's arrogant.   Maybe he is or isn't.   But he's always nice to the fans and generally seems like a very nice guy.   I know other people think he's a big fake, but if he is then he is a heck of an actor.   I like him a lot.   He's put his foot in his mouth every once in awhile, but overall one of my favorites.

I think @Phil McGleno hacked your TST account Drew

Ha!!

For the record, if I was a Phil hater - I'm not but if I was - I'd try to do some investigative reporting on how this story came about.

Count me in the camp of Phil lovers.

I love his attitude with fans.

I love the fact that he always has a smile on his face. Some people don't like it, but I love it.

I love the fact that he is a dedicated family man. In 2009, he missed a good portion of the season to tend to his mother and his wife, both battling breast cancer.

My all-time golf hero is Arnie, but in my book, Phil is the closest thing to him in the current genre of golfers.

I like Phil.  He is known as a good tipper .  Contrary to Tiger who is known as one of the worst tippers.    I just wish was more of a contender,   to make the tournaments more interesting.    l think he has a lot of class.

Phil's also well known as one of the most tireless autograph signers on tour. Very generous with his time, especially when it comes to the kids.

Maybe he signs with disappearing ink?

You know that this is just an internet myth correct?  Sean Foley countered it by saying he witnessed many times where Tiger left very generous tips.  Let's stick to discussing Phil please.

What do people mean when they say he's a fake?  I don't think people understand the word's definition.

People always want to tear down celebrities, so they have to come up with something.  That being said, it has been stated that Phil may act one way when there's a camera around versus when there is not.  I don't care either way.  I think we expect celebrities to act perfect all the time. They are people just like us, with ups and downs.

I'm just glad that Phil made these kid's day and gave them a story that they will tell for the rest of their lives.

That's what I figure they meant, but that doesn't necessarily make him a "phony."  Phil may be quick with the needle and profane to his fellow players because he has that kind of personality.  But he may approach the fans more as his customers (for lack of a better term).

When I'm meeting with clients, I certainly clean up my language, and try to smile more and be a generally positive person.  That doesn't make a phony, it makes me professional.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
