He's back, but he's not going to win The Masters - too far back, too many missed opportunities. The 3-putt on 16 today was ugly. You don't leave your lag putt 8 feet short. Easy birdie putt on 18 that he also missed.

he still struggles with the same damn problem... he just makes bad bogeys at bad times.  I feel like he hardly ever has a bogey free round.  I get that guys make bogeys, but he just makes bad ones, at bad times, and seems to always make at like minimum 2-3 per round.

Callaway XR 9.5 + 1, Taylormade R15 3 Wood, Burner 3 Rescue, Callaway XHot 5H, Warbird 4H, Nike Vapor Fly 6-AW Irons, Titleist Vokey 54, 60 Wedges, Taylormade Rossa Fontana Putter, Srixon Z-Star Tour Yellow.

Best Score 2017:  82 (Traditions at the Glen, Par 70)

Favorite Course - Conklin Players Club (Par 72) - Best Score 86

The above could be about any professional golfer apart from Tiger Woods.

Spieth won last week, came in 3rd this week at the Masters. Pretty impressive.

It’s hard to win two weeks in a row too.

Spieth usually won because of his play around the green and his putter. This week it kind of let him down. With his strokes gained tee-to-green, he should have won the Masters easily. IF he can continue to drive it the way he has recently, I think he is officially back.

Well that would imply that there's more to winning than shots gained tee to green.

How many other players "should have" won the Masters "easily"? 15? 20?

It was said in context with the fact that his usual success is with his putter.

Except ...that’s not true. JS actually putted better in 2019 than he did in 2015. JS has made his wins based on his ball striking primarily.

But he has almost always been a good putter and scrambler, His putting stats in 2015 were pretty good, probably top ten and he was #1 around the green. His success has rarely been because of tee to green. You don't even have to look at stats to see that, just watch him play.

Well...stats are the truth. What we think we see can be deceiving.

He didn’t follow the Gary Player tip.

Ah, the step-forward after the shot.  But he did execute the rank amateur fall-back after the shot.  And he is still alive.

Thanks for complete my half ass post@billchao. Posted on the fly..

My sentiment still stands. I don't care what people say about Jordan, the doods all in all the time. Love it.

I don't think that shot was all that scary. When's the last time a pro golfer fell forward even two inches when hitting a shot off a slight downslope.

Jordan's caddie tried 3 times to talk him out of the shot.  One thing is for sure, we'll be watching replays of that shot for years to come, every early February.  And what fun to talk about that shot with his friends.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
