Suck it, Bryson

Bet we don't see him swing this way one single time while playing in a tournament.

I really like Tony Finau. Seems like a great guy to be around.

The wild thing about this swing is that ... I don't want to say it looked effortless, but it looked effortless.

Every time Bryson swings a driver it looks like his eyes are going to explode out of his head.

I posted this back in September last year, Finau barely made 200 ball speed. I guess he got better, lol. Or Trackman and that device HMT? measures differently.

Smash factor could have been part of it. In that older video, even the swing where he got to 200 was 1.46 SF. But he was swinging out of his shoes in that one, which he wasn't in the newer one.

I slowed both swings down and it looked like he hit towards the toe both times.

Maybe he's been practicing the long ball, lol.

The thing that got me was the amount of spin and it still carried 383. Can you imagine if he got his spin down to 2k?

This is cool. Impressive how he's been able to get bigger but improve/maintain his mobility and move faster. This is Chris Como's living room btw.

One thing to take note of with Bryson and Finau is how fast their backswings are and how "active" they are before the swing.

Here is a you tube video demonstrating how a faster backswing is an enabler for a faster swing speed overall.

DeChambeau's finish looks awkward, the ones he swings hard (I mean, really hard) on. Maybe it's less stressful on the back than if he were to go to a "prettier" finish.

I went nuts on speed drills for a while, including this speed the backswing advice. An unintended consequence was my swing got much shorter without me being aware at the time. (Not blaming the theory, just the dope with the club in hand.) So buyer beware.

They mention it in the video too. That’s what I call a “sooner” swing. You start down “sooner” rather than just making the same backswing faster.

So I’d say you just didn’t do it quite right. Your feel wasn’t “real” to you in the right way.

Here are two videos I use for speed training (along with superspeed); though I take it further back than shown in the first video.

It takes a lot of swings for the body to adapt. I will also use these swings prior to hitting a drive, if I am 'gripping and ripping' and the risk-reward is low (or is that high?).

The second drill is

People are overlooking how straight he's hitting it.

Agree. Is there data on how far off center of fairway he has been? If their is, I would be curious to see what the range of lateral degrees he is missing by. At that distance, he is bound to be within a couple of degrees, which is impressive when you compare it to something like long drive championships, or maybe even other players that aren't as long and measuring degrees as well.
