Would You Rather #68:
Would you rather make a hole-in-one on a perfectly struck shot, during a round where you otherwise played pretty poorly.

or

Would you rather play well all day and beat your personal best by let's say 3 strokes, but with no eagles.

BTW - You could answer that it may depend upon who you are playing with? ... Or if its in a tournament? ... Or any other conditions you want to apply to the question.

Been close to a hole in one several times….i’ve never held it together for a complete low round (I find ways to blow it) so Option 2 is the more appealing option as it would mean for me a round of 76 but more importantly I held it together for a full round.

#2 unless my hole-in-ones vanished. If I did not already have them, then give me the ace.

In my current situation, another ace would be nice but shooting a new personal best would get me the elusive score in the 60’s. That would be much cooler than adding another hole-in-one.

Would You Rather #69

For this question let's assume you are playing whatever tournament is important to you.

Would you rather finish second in your tournament but be remembered for a huge mistake you make right at the end.

or

Would you rather play solidly in your tournament, but you still finish outside the top 25, and are never really in contention.

Incidentally, this happed to a friend of mine many years ago at the tournament I play every year. He was leading the tournament coming into the last hole, where he took two to get out of a greenside bunker and then three-putted his way to second place. He hasn't really been in contention again since.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

For me it would be opt 1 , even though it’s a watching it slip away scene.  I believe it was Brando who lamented at the end of Streetcar Named Desire that he could’ve been a contender….would I be like @ChetlovesMer’s friend?  I hope not, but to know that for a moment I was giving the  win a run for the money would be a great memory…

I know. I was just kidding.

BTW - I'd take the second place with the meltdown. It would at least make a good story.

I take 2nd, is a confirmation that you can eventually win your major and also is good material for having a laugh about it in the distant future.

Another reason I'd take second place with the meltdown at the end is, at least for our tournament, second place prize money is pretty good. Where as outside the top 25 gets nothing.

First one. If it’s not some bs “mistake” like I should have made that 12’ putt for birdie and actually correctable then it’s a learning experience and it means I’m good enough to win.

I don’t play the club championships at my county courses because the best I can hope for is the second option and I kind of don’t see the point in that.

Hands down second place.  It means I still have a chance to win it in the future because I played well except for one mistake at the end.  In the second scenario you were never in the running to win and winning in the future is potentially harder

Has to be the first one. As others have noted, most mistakes are capable of being fixed the next time round. At least you know you have enough good stuff in the locker to compete. And I guess you hope the scar tissue doesn't play too big a role next time you're in contention.

Choice #1 - 2nd place with the stumble down the stretch. Our Senior City Championship is two days and a 2nd place finish would mean I played a lot of great golf. I think I would get over the stumble quickly, as I have had a lot of practice.

    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.

You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere.
