Is it just me, or does the rough (er, I mean second cut 🙄) seem longer/deeper than usual?

Looks longer to me

Jon Rahm just hit second shot on #8, a wood that barely got off the ground, hooked into the trees, tried to punch out and hit a tree and now the ball is in further trouble.  I will probably have something similar happen next time I play, so that sequence is going into my memory box for encouragement as needed.

Same with Tiger's putt/chip that barely got on the green on #13.

It looks longer for sure. What is Rahm playing at?

I am oddly rooting for DJ to close this thing out here. He's been so good for so long. He simply doesn't feel like a one-time major champion to me and this would be a much deserved feather in his cap. What a talent he is. Freak among freaks.

Im just made a birdie at 11 of which Ben Hogan would have approved, by chipping in from right of the green.

IIRC, Hogan said that wasn't a green to go for in regulation.  Of course, things were different then, both in capability and understanding.

I don’t mind DJ winning. He’s been one of the best for a few years now and has had some chances slip away in the final round.

Him or Justin Thomas is fine, now that Tiger seems to be out of it.

He's not a one time major winner in my book

I’m not sure your book is accurate then. One win, quire a few seconds places. He looks serene again today, beautiful golf.

In my book, he won at Whistling Straights.

Anyways, dude is exuding huge BDE and I hope he walks away with it tomorrow.

So you have him not only not breaching the rules on the 18th, but also winning the resulting three-man playoff?

Lol, I'll go as far as to say he should've won there. Crazy he also has five additional seconds in majors as well.

I was just looking at the 2019 leaderboard, and boy, it's a bit hard not to be a tad disappointed with the names at the top this year....

What does DJ have to shoot tomorrow to win? 70? Hard to see his play today and think that he’ll struggle to do that. But, it’s golf. And DJ. Who knows.

He was unlucky, but made a mistake. It’ll be a huge year if he does win, and in 2020 it’ll be the first time a positive test for DJ didn’t fall him foul of the tour.
I hope he wins and par might even do it but if he breaks 70 then no one will catch him.

DJ hit 16 greens in the 3rd round and 14/14 fairways. That’s a recipe for stress free golf for sure.

Tiger said it was playing like a “3rd cut” in his post round.😀

It was a low-event round.  Not a lot of need for par saves going on.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
