@Braivo, have you reconsidered the use of masks? They're not that much to ask of people and they're effective (even when worn poorly/improperly) at helping slow the spread.

I haven't commented on this thread in months. You trying to stir things up? lol

There is no mask requirement where I live. I don't wear one. My kids aren't required to wear them at school or while playing sports. I hardly see them anywhere. If I am asked to wear one, I comply without complaint. Other than that I am busy living my life and give little thought to Covid.

FWIW I got the vax and I also had a bout with Covid in Sept. I don't feel personally at risk right now so I live my life accordingly.

Sure-fire way to catch the new variant.  And you're in Michigan!  Otherwise I'm with you... I would love to give up masks and give up being concerned with Covid... but it's still not prudent to do so.  I want to stay alive to play golf on those beautiful Spring mornings.

I'm checking to see if the science has overwhelmed you yet and caused you to change your mind, like a rational human being. 🙂

I don't feel at risk much either, but that's somewhat beside the point.

I sub at a local Michigan school where masks are required from the parking lot each day.   Since basketball season has started I've hit several home games.    The state health board has demanded that masks are worn until December 22/23 for everyone in school including sports except swimming.    At the basketball games, the players are wearing their masks around their necks!  Along with myself, the principal, assistant principal and a few others nobody is wearing masks.

Going to any store, you'll find an overwhelming majority of people without masks.    I believe that the vaccine has given the majority of people a false sense of security or they are tired of the masks.

The holidays will be a telling tale with families coming together.

They may catch Covid, but apparently their necks will be immune.  Why bother?  What are they saying by only wearing masks around their necks?  Are they pulling those masks up around their face while on the bench or in a huddle?

Where I live, they stopped the requirement to wear masks in most shops earlier this week. I still wear one and I am triple vaccinated.

The people you see without one  - purely because they don''t HAVE to wear one now - look more than a little bit silly. Almost as silly as the ones you see with them under their nose.

I'd prefer not to wear a mask, but honestly, it's not much of a burden wearing one in the pro shop, clubhouse or at the shops. And I've yet to see a single child complaining about wearing one - it's not a big deal.

I find it so weird that there seems tto be  abit of a macho stance from people who are going to "live their lives" and go unmasked and take their chances. I'm living my life and wearing a mask. And I'm allowed to do things that some anti-mask or anti vaccine people can't do. Strangely, I don't feel like I'm a holocaust victim or living under an Orwellian dictator.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

The coaches are wearing masks but the players don't bother to wear them properly.  I don't understand the logic.

We have a town in Whatcom County - Washington State, where it seems that many businesses, while posting signs declaring that masks are required, are not actually doing so. To give you an idea of the makeup of the town it used to be that they did not allow lawn mowing on Sundays. Lots of businesses with customers and employees unmasked. I have reported the businesses to the appropriate authorities that we've been in where they're going maskless but doubt it really does any good other than to make me feel better. We have quit doing business in that town completely although, again, I doubt that has much impact on them. But it keeps us just a little bit safer and there are plenty of other places to shop where the business does care about their employees and customers.

That same town also did not allow dancing on Sundays or for businesses to be open on Sundays.

And there were no alcohol sales inside the town line...

Here's some interesting stuff re: Covid:

We have a state Senator here in Washington state who is presently in a hospital in El Salvador where he contracted the coronavirus.  He is outspoken about refusing vaccines, mandates, mask wearing and distancing.  A golf course starter friend once wanted to pair me up with his twosome but I refused.

Anyway, he rejected the science of vaccinations and is now begging, from his hospital bed, for help in getting the science of monoclonal antibodies. He says he has a doctor there who can administer the antibodies via IV, but the product isn't available in El Salvador.

Sorry to rant, but we reap what we sow.

BTW, El Salvador has one of the highest Covid rates in the world. Why would you go there unvaccinated??? Nevertheless, I do hope he survives.

As a follow-up to what I wrote a month ago:  Washington State Senator Doug Ericksen has just died of Covid.  He was 52.

Scientists say there are common symptoms largely associated with the infection that you shouldn't ignore.

So apparently they're starting to think that the taste/smell issues aren't really a symptom in many Omicron cases.

And while it's sometimes thought to be more mild, many are saying that it may only seem to be more mild because many of the infections are in breakthrough cases, so the vaccinations make the symptoms more mild, and in unvaccinated or even previously infected individuals, it's still about the same.

Anyone use an N99 or N100 mask? Thinking about getting a box of N99s.

I have a box of N99's.
I use them sometimes. I find them quite warm... literally they make my face sweat. So, I like them outside, but inside them are a might toasty.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I noticed in the winter masks are handy for those cold days when cycling, lol.

Well, I join the caught COVID list.

I would be interested if I was able to find out what variant it is. I wonder if it was the new one.

I got the booster last Monday, Probably got COVID like 2-3 days later. Showed symptoms last Friday. Tested positive today. COVID probably snuck in before the anti-body response could happen with the booster. Maybe I will get some super anti-body production for COVID-19 now.

So far, I just have mild sinus issues (i.e. sinus pressure, congestion). Overall, glad I got the vaccine.

Like your original shots my understanding is the booster also needs two weeks to be fully effective.  Dang, that sucks.  Keep us posted.

You will be "Superhuman" because of natural immunity and all 3 shots.

Vaccines are natural immunity too.

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
