More than a few health policy experts were screaming at the government to do something in January/February and nothing. Also he talks about Bush's (Bush 43) plans to prepare for a pandemic post 9/11.

His interviews on both Ezra Klein and Talking Politics are great overviews (some repetition, some differences with different interviewers). What I took was that … the problems that caused our embarrassingly disastrous response are much wider ranging. For example, the CDC went from career leaders to political leaders under Carter and Reagan – you can listen/read for the full story, which is too long for here – and atrophied from an agency capable of leading the nation through a health crisis to one that could only do academic style research. Lots of other angles. Sounds like a great book.

Another reason to get vaccinated: the vaccines do not appear to work as well in immunocompromised people:

Early research shows that 15 to 80 percent of people with certain medical conditions, such as specific blood cancers or organ transplants, are generating few antibodies after coronavirus vaccines.

Michael Lewis did the best book for laymen on the 2008 financial crisis. He does a really good job of explaining complex things simply and making them interesting. This will be a must buy and must read for me.

All this while eating these items, driving with their knees, and talking on the phone. A next door family, with 3 kids, and parents with pre-existing conditions, refuse to get the vaccine out of fear of side effects. Nicest people in the world, would do anything for most anybody, but refuse to get the vac. People have a lot of unwarranted apprehensions.

So, what is everyone going to do with all of their masks when we get to the point where we don't need them every day?

Just watched a show and a character said "Maybe I could make the world's ugliest quilt, because I learned to sew during the pandemic."

I'm trying to figure out how to work them into a golf training aid, but coming up empty so far.

I can use them when I sand wood and joint compound. Some will still wear theirs during allergy season. Or we could make Xmas wreaths with them!

    • This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score
    • Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage. I bolded the big group of each set.  Most beneficial with the weather Round 1: No. 1 tee, Round 2: No. 10 tee 7:40 a.m., 12:30 p.m.: Mark Hubbard, Thorbjørn Olesen, Mac Meissner 7:52 a.m., 12:42 p.m.: Bud Cauley, Vince Whaley, Chandler Phillips 8:04 a.m., 12:54 p.m.: Emiliano Grillo, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Max Greyserman 8:16 a.m., 1:06 p.m.: Kevin Yu, Cam Davis, Gary Woodland 8:28 a.m., 1:18 p.m.: Ricky Castillo, Ryan Gerard, Patrick Cantlay 8:40 a.m., 1:30 p.m.: Adam Schenk, Garrick Higgo, Matt McCarty 8:52 a.m., 1:42 p.m.: Brian Harman, Maverick McNealy, Davis Riley 9:04 a.m., 1:54 p.m.: Sami Valimaki, Lucas Glover, Matt Fitzpatrick 9:16 a.m., 2:06 p.m.: Michael Brennan, Harris English, J.T. • We have a very difficult but mostly showy course this week. Lets see what they got. This course offers so many chances to get into trouble it is really a mental minefield. I am excited to see who can handle it and who cant. Last year we got a foreshadowing of JJ and Rory, I am excited for this year Who do people have winning? what will the winning score be? I am thinking 12 or 13 under
