Don't forget ear hair. Maybe @ChetlovesMer doesn't have that problem?

Ugh, nope. I have that problem too. Turning 50 was like a cruel trick of nature. Nose hair, Ear hair, even hair growing on my nose. Not to mention can't read without reading glasses. That was another curve ball.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I enjoyed the company of @Bonvivant as my cart mate on Sunday at Whispering Woods. His knowledge of golf history, sunny disposition, and positive attitude in the face of adversity was uplifting.

He also had the chore of keeping me from breaking etiquette with where I happened to park the cart.  On one hole I made a last minute move to steer the cart so that the windshield blocked the near-gale force winds and sideways rain. @iacas did not like that as the tires were on the grass instead of asphalt.

It was my pleasure Carl. There are far too many people with a sullen attitude, especially when on the course and I was happy to share a cart with someone that could smile, even after a poor shot, gale force winds, or torrential downpour.

Just stay on the paths near greens and tees and the whole hole on par threes.

Then the super won’t be mad. 😡

At my age, I can grow my nose hair to look like that in about an hour... maybe 2 tops.

I'd like to thank @CarlSpackler for finding a silver lining in growing older.

Huh? Can you repeat that?

Sorry. I'm letting my ear hair grow out too. 🤣

This compliment goes out to @iacas and @Bonvivant.

I really enjoyed the back and forth discussion you two had in this thread:

I think @Bonvivant was arguing uphill, but it was a great discussion. Nice job, you two.

It's great when folks can have a discussion without getting pissy. ... Seems to be a dying art these days.

Thanks @ChetlovesMer. I've just got wonky opinions though. Things like walking only unless medically unable, enforcement of 3.5 hour pace, etc. etc. I know that I am in the minority on a lot of things and know that there are plenty of issues with my opinions, so I try to not get mad about it ever.

I guess I should add a compliment myself. To @iacas for always making me think about things, and pushing back. Cheers!

Those aren't the same kind of opinions as "marketing is irrelevant" or whatever some of your sub-opinions were in the ball debate. 🙂

I'm just glad you take it as banter or keep in mind that we're disagreeing about f***ing GOLF, not something that actually matters. Plus, arguing can be FUN. 😄

I grew up with a guy that would argue with a telephone phone and win.   With my wife, I've learned to just roll my eyes.   She said it helps to straighten my back.   I must have the straightest back of anybody I know!   :-D

I wasn't saying it was irrelevant, just responding to the comment that "every commercial has a pro" (or multiple), when I've seen plenty that just have some guy instead of a big name.

I've gotten much better about it in my year or so here. And I definitely agree that arguing can be fun. That's how we form, shape, and change opinions over time. If everyone sat around in echo-chambers then they wouldn't be doing themselves any good.

I'd like to give a shout out to @boogielicious and @ncates00 for providing feedback in my swing thread to try and help me improve.

Also, shoutout to @Antneye for having great taste in hockey teams.

And one last shoutout to @Slice of Life, @ChetlovesMer, and @saevel25 who are super cool folks who I'm glad I got to meet in person and become friends with at the August outing.

You're wrong, and let me tell you in obnoxious multi-quoting fashion why… 😉

    • First - glad to see these popping up again. Now to the topic at hand - I would rather be option 1.  If I know how far it's going (I mean a yard or two) I can always play to the wider parts of the fairway and/or the green and still do reasonably well.  Now if I could just really hit the "number" that well.
    • Day 2 (10 Mar 25) - Long day of driving to dr appt with son.  Thankfully got in one of my fave putting drills (two ball side by side) - the goal to have both balls come off the putter face equally by having them come off the putter face as close to the same time as possible.  First few rolls - the toe was leading the way as that ball flew off the face.  By the end of the drill both balls were basically equal off the face, rolling to within a couple of inches of each other.  Nice drill of focusing on squaring the face.  BTW - I was using the old Odyssey DF992.
    • Day 161 - 2025-03-10 Got a decent, long session in. Focused mostly on the backswing feels, and moved on toward the end of the four hours (not all hitting balls, I installed a motion sensing light switch in there too, and worked with a student over FaceTime for a bit) on the downswing feel.
    • Day 31: 3/10/25 Backswing drills with the ProSendr. Reinforcing iron play from yesterday.
    • I wrote up a response as a YouTube comment that I won't be posting on YouTube. What an absolute load of garbage. Your arm doesn't "slingshot" or "bounce" - you use the muscles in your arm to move your arm and throw the baseball. In one video you've managed to get roughly five areas of science almost completely backward. At best, your video sets up a straw man as nobody is telling golfers to do anything like what you show when you're demonstrating a "bad tennis player." The golfers you see on your lesson tee must be from a completely different world than almost anyone else on Earth, because most golfers do something more like what you prefer to teach - their arms are too passive for too long, they stay "up" too long, and are carried out toward the ball from the top. From there, they stall their pivot, often early extending while right tilting to TRY to not swing 15° left. You know… we have ways of measuring these things these days, but you're still stuck with a poor understanding of how the golf swing works and are peddling it to some unsuspecting and unfortunate souls. But, I know… you teach "athletes." I hope for your sake that's just code for "dumb" because anyone with even a room temperature IQ understands that there's nothing truly "effortless" about the golf swing.
