@BradSomrak are you still wanting to play? Looks like I need to give up my spot. It is my birthday and it seems my family in Ohio want to throw a proper party for me.

I was hoping the tee times were in the AM.

The tee times were known on May 18.

@BradSomrak made other plans when the spots were filled.

We have one open spot guys.

Sorry all - I am a no go next weekend. A bathroom/bedroom renovation running behind and I’m in charge of the kid on Sunday.

I hope everyone hits them straight.

You explained post 52 to them, right? I guess I’ll be drinking your birthday beer then.

Seriously though, have a good time with your family.

If we don't get another committed player by say 8 pm tonight, I will still play. Sorry to cause trouble, but I knew Mr. somrack was waiting and thought I would ask.

I don't know if that's necessary, especially as you're coming from Buffalo. But if you want to play, the spot is open.

My father passed away Friday, after a four year battle with Alzheimer's dementia.  For a long time, it was an evenly matched struggle between an insidious disease and a strong, elegant man. Unfortunately, the final inning turned into a rout, as his body functions shut down one by one.  We transitioned to Hospice care, and the end came peacefully in his sleep.  My efforts turn now to my mother, also a dementia sufferer, as she tries to come to terms with the loss of her companion of 67 years.

Golf has not been on my mind these past few weeks.  I leave in a few minutes for my first practice round in over a month.  I will be accompanied by my usual posse; Clank, Shank, Foozle, Flip, and Chili-dip.  Most of them also plan to travel with me this Sunday to central Ohio.  Yes, I will be there.

You are all encouraged to smile and laugh at the antics of my pals, and my very rusty golf game.  I come not to break par, but for the camaraderie that flows freely at every TST get together.

See you soon.

Sorry for your loss, Marshall.

@Divot Master Sorry for your loss. Assuming that is the elegant man standing beside you on the Swilcan Bridge at the Old Course? Good times. Looking forward to playing with you.

@iacas What tees do you think we will play? Wanting to apply some Lowest Score Wins strategies. Although it will all be thrown out the window since I believe this course has some major elevation changes and everything appears flat with Google Maps. 😄

@Divot Master Really sorry to hear about what happened. I am glad that you will be hanging out with us. Nothing like seeing me spray a driver all over the state of Ohio to cheer you up though.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Yes, that is him.  We were across the pond for a wedding, and this was my 49th birthday present from him.  35 mph wind and spitting rain, cleared up just in time for me to see my tee shot on 17 bounce off the wall of the hotel.  Never to be forgotten.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words.  Mom and I are both holding up well.

And now lets all get back to the pre-round trash talk.

  • The back (black) tees are 6584.
  • The next (blue) tees are 6081.

I would think most will play black, with a few on the blue.

    • Day 126: another busy day, so just did some mirror work. Checking set up and backswing and working on a few downswing feels.
    • Day 310 - Working on my follow-through. Higher chest, belt towards the target. Small swings at first, building to a fuller swing (still not thrilled with my short backswing).
    • Day 201 (19 Nov 24) - Walked the back nine at Minnesott today, played the “white” tees with the persimmon woods and bladed irons.  It’s a challenge I really like as the clubs are shorter in overall distances.  It really forces me focus on the value of the approach game.     Somehow yesterday’s post did not load / so it’s above.  Today (Day 202) I did some backyard short yardage work - 7i dink  and rolls, 9i chips and 50deg pitches - working to get it in before the rain started around noon.
    • Day 51 - 2024-11-20 Played nine holes of Sanctuary Moon with a 6I while pausing in the backswing and otherwise just practicing. If you're into Star Wars, or don't actively hate it… this is worth checking out.
