We’ve seen it happen before, where someone roots against a player yelling land in a trap or something and they get tossed.

I think Bryson brings it on himself with his sort of smart alec involvement in the situation. That photobomb was very childish in my opinion. I I think many have lost some respect for Bryson. People shouldn't be heckling the players like that although.

There was no photobomb. Bryson walked along a path which happened to be behind Koepka.

Bryson is not stupid, he knew exactly what he was doing. He knew that just his presence in his photobomb would be enough to anger b k. It was well orchestrated by Bryson, as childish as it was.

Whats the point of them to yell such things in the middle of the round when he clearly doesn’t like it?

It's not the same thing to directly wish someone plays poorly as it is to say things hoping to annoy them into playing poorly. One is not at all in the spirit of friendly competition and the other is fine up to a certain limit. Fans do have a tendency to take it past that limit of course.

And @saevel25, fair enough. I don’t expect people to get along with or like everyone. That’s fine. It just seemed to me like BK is just too easily annoyed and irritable. Like he was agitated at BDC. BK is far from the MJ and Tiger one liners that we came to love. BK just looks grumpy and unlikeable as opposed to a guy who just lets his clubs talk.

Bryson is the most irritating twat on tour, so I'm all in with Team Brooksy.

You’re asking the wrong guy. I don’t know why people yell anything right after the ball is hit. My point is, “Brooksy” and “get in the water” are not the same.

And if you think Bryson or any other tour  player should be able to eject a fan just for saying something they don’t like, I heartily disagree with you.

These guys are grown men. The players. Vulgar yells makes a point. But to eject a patron for yelling ‘Brooksy’ is inarguably asinine.

For me it comes down to this, intent and how he takes it. Some people are good spirited about it, some people actually want to screw with him. If he takes it personally enough that it effects him, do something. Don’t let it grow.

this sort of heckling is fine. The guy obviously sounds like he’s just messing around. Whatever.

With Bryson, maybe it’s getting bad for him, idk. I’m sure he’s been heckled plenty before, so maybe there’s more to it this time. I’m just saying there is a line, maybe some people went past it.

Who cares if he likes it?  As long as they aren't doing it during his swing, get over it.  "Teacher, those people are saying the name of someone I don't like, make them stop".

Bryson could use a history lesson from guys like Garcia and Montgomery, who let fans get under their skin which resulted in them being heckled even more.

Bryson doesn't seem to be mentally strong, to let this affect him.  I'm old enough to remember the crap Arnie's Army put Nicklaus through during their US Open play-off.  I can't find it now, but I recall reading that when Jack was asked about it afterwards he claimed he hadn't been aware of the abuse being hurled at him because he was in his competitive state of mind, shutting everything out.  Bryson could take a lesson.

This would be different because I’m not for bullying kids. Teachers should address such behavior used to bully another child. Bryson is hardly a school-aged, impressionable child. He’s a professional athlete and public figure, and like you said, at least they’re not doing it during his swing—that would be wrong in my book.

    • Day 91 (1  Aug 25) - Pre-tournament practice round today…had some great up and downs for par saves.  Rain came in this evening so it will be a totally different playing course tomorrow.
    • Jesus, when he keeps saying scissoring moment, ugh that is a horrible sounding phrase. Just makes me cringe. It doesn't help my mind went to Mr. Garrison from South Park. 🤣 If you know you know.  I think for the most part, golf shaft companies have gotten this figured out. They ask questions like, what tempo do you swing at. The whole scissor terminology sounds like they want to stand out a bit.  Yea, golfers load the golf shaft differently, and different bend profiles can help out. I do think swing speed matters as well. You probably want a golf shaft with lower torque if you swing faster.
    • Played 9 holes, shot a 39.  Kind of got around. Everything between the trees, so in play. Short game was rusty. Got to get back on that. Greens were stupidly slow because they got a lot of rain yesterday and probably couldn't cut them down. Usually in the summer they are firm and pretty fast for how sloped they are. Got to work on face to path a bit.
    • We agree here. Top of the car has a forward force, bottom of the car experiences a backward force via the braking. Both about the COM (somewhere in between). Result is a rotational flip. Since the forward force is still higher the car probably still globally travels forward. Sure, pretty basic. You really think there are deliberate twist forces applied? Like forcing the club head forward and simultaneously forcing grip end in the opposite direction? Heck I don't think we even slow down the grip end deliberately let alone force it the other way. Sorry, if I am missing something here. The orientation change is simple incidental because there is different rate of global movement of grip vs. clubhead throughout the swing. I also happen to think the best swings have the least amount of differential movement between the two end in the impact zone.  In my defense, I never thought one could do justice in covering all aspects of a golf swing in a paragraphs or two to begin with. Especially not with grade school physics..😜 Okay.
    • Wow, @DeadMan that is such a helpful breakdown of what’s around. Really excited to check a bunch of these out. Thank you. Will definitely go to Walnut Creek. Will also try and get a commonground tee time. Haven’t played many Doak courses yet! If your schedule frees up, let me know!
