This game will consist of three periods of play:

  • Period 1: Today through the Valero Texas Open (April 3) - 88 days.
  • Period 2: The Masters through the RBC Canadian Open (June 22) - 81 days.
  • Period 3: The U.S. Open through the Tour Championship (August 28) - 67 days.

Well, since nobody playing remembered this, we'll revise that to this:

  • Period 1: Today through the Masters (April 10) - 95 days.
  • Period 2: The Masters through the RBC Canadian Open (June 22) - 74 days.
  • Period 3: The U.S. Open through the Tour Championship (August 28) - 67 days.

In other words, place your second segment bets (and calculate your current portfolio value) before Sunday.

I’m not sure I understand. What was your portfolio value? Did you lose or gain?

Nobody’s going to check everyone’s math so please show your work.

Do we use the gains from the 1st part?  I did not.   I was up 13.25 over the $100.

Yes, you use the gains from the first part. You're required to. That's why you have to show your work - so you know what your total investment is.

Also, you have to figure out your totals (and show your work) because… we have to award some extra money (that you're then also required to spend):

The winner§ of Periods 1 and 2 will receive a bonus $10 to invest, and second place gets an additional $5. Last place gets an extra $10 as well, with next-to-last getting an extra $5.

So, maybe this just dies, because you're the only person who noticed and attempted to do a little bit, even though the previous segment was supposed to end before the Masters, and none of you noticed.

So, maybe it's just dead.

1 - Rory McIlroy (9): 4 * 6.18 = 24.72

2 - Jordan Spieth (14): 5 * 4.82 = 24.1

3 - Jason Day (126): 30 * 1.31 = 39.3

4 - Taylor Moore (122): 8 * 1.33 = 10.64

$98.76 spent $1.24 rollover

Banking on Jason, he did some swing work this off season and it looks good!

4*6.46 + 5*4.06 + 30*1.27 + 8*1.09 = 92.96 + 1.24 = 92.96 + 1.24 = 94.2

This isn’t before Sunday, but oh well. I’ll play for fun.

Will Zalatoris 3.61 * 10 = 36.1

Hudson Swafford 1.8 * 15 = 27

Jhonatton Vegas 1.62 * 6 = 9.72

Brooks Koepka 4.16. * 5 = 20.8

Total = 93.62, change of 0.58

No, it's just holding the same stock longer. I suppose since so many people didn't do it, they can just carry it over.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
