Do we use the gains from the 1st part?  I did not.   I was up 13.25 over the $100.

Yes, you use the gains from the first part. You're required to. That's why you have to show your work - so you know what your total investment is.

Also, you have to figure out your totals (and show your work) because… we have to award some extra money (that you're then also required to spend):

You still have to recalculate because their values have changed.

No, it's just holding the same stock longer. I suppose since so many people didn't do it, they can just carry it over.
