Who has the best swing and worst swing on tour?

Best IMO :  Elkington - just a beautiful golf swing. Mcilroy - ditto. Oosthuizen, Donald.

Worst : Zach Johnson, I just can't stand watching this guys rigid swing, looks like everything is forced and is just slapping the ball.

Completely agree with newtogolf about the worst ones. I can't stand watching Bubba or Furyk. DLIII, Rory, and Ernie have the prettiest swings I've ever seen.

I'm noticing a pattern here. Most of the "worst" swings are Americans - Furyk, Gainey, Watson. Or maybe because the Euros/Internationals don't get enough airtime?

I personally get a kick out of seeing different swings - it's amazing how many ways you can do something to get a similar result.

I tend to agree in general, but when someone's motion hurts my back or knees just watching it, then no, I don't care for it.

I am assuming you mean best LOOKING and worst looking swings on tour. Tiger's definitely looks the best. It just looks so natural and comfortable. Picking the worst is hard, since I've probably never even seen the worst on tour. The player with the worst-looking swing on tour is probably someone who never gets shown on television.

Nobody has a bad swing on the PGA Tour. They're all superb golfers. Silly question. ;-)

Look at the critical factors, impact positions, pros have a lot in common regardless of what their swing "looks like". My vote: mcilroy is best, gainey is worst.

Best: Rory. It's perfect. Tiger and I like Gary Woodland's as well.

Worst: Tommy Two gloves by far. Also for some reason I can't stand Matt Kuchar's swing.

I'm in the minority when it comes to Furyk. At first glance it might looks like he has a lot goin on, but if you watch it in slow-mo, I think its pretty cool lookin. Especially when he hits a cut shot. It has an olay, lasso look to it.

I read a lot of the comments on this thread and wonder what are the criteria (or is the criterion) that makes a good swing?   I'd say that what defines a good swing are the results of the swing and not any of the aesthetics.   Or in other words if you have a swing that consistently results in low scores, it is a good swing regardless how it looks.  Since we are different physically and mentally I can't bring myself to believe that there is a one swing that fits all.  So based on my criterion of consistent low scores, I'd say there isn't a bad swing on the LPGA or PGA tours.

Maybe this thread should be The Oddest Swing On the Tour. Believe me, I'll take (Jim Furyk + Tommy Gainey)^3 if I can hit the ball they way they do.

BTW, I have a "textbook" swing myself, but I never use it because it isn't worth a dime for hitting the ball. All it does is look good.

In Golf, as in Life, Looks don't matter.. (To me at least).

Case in point; Tommy Gainey. Most would say his weird Baseball style swing is ugly as Sin.

Yet, check out his impact position.

Hands way forward, ensuring a clean and powerful strike on the ball. All that matters is where you are at impact.

Im so glad someone mentioned Kenny Perry.  I can hardly watch him play.  That studder at the top gives me ample time to turn the channel and avoid seeing the result.

Also, something erks me about Goydos...I cant explain it.  Maybe a timing thing?  No idea, it just makes me cringe.

There was a thread like this on another golf forum.

The predictable "Furyk's swing is crap" chestnut came up.

A PGA Tour pro who frequents the site said that Furyk's positions are all actually really good. Amongst the best, in fact. Which obviously they must be.

I'm not quite sure why we have to be critical - obviously these guys have swings that work.

My favourites, though, are Goosen, Michael Sim and McIlroy.

The ones I like the least are Bubba Watson and Villegas.

Tommy Gainey proves that having a pretty swing is not the most important thinhg in golf.

And I'd wager that a lot of the forum members who claim to have  an S&T swing have nothing of the sort and that a lot of guys would faint if they saw their own swings on video.

I'm looking at the scorecard mostly, not the swing.

I played with a guy in competition today who had 4 under par, His handicap (+1) went out though because an 8 under score was dropping out of his top 10.  He's a fantastic golfer, but noone would be talking that much about his swing, just his game in general, which is terrific.
