Let me start by saying, EJ is ABSOLUTELY right, which means, what I'm going to say here, is "wrong"....

.....but, I prefer a single cube of ice in my whisky. As EJ said, a drop of water opens up the bouquet and will increase your appreciation for that unique whisky, but I find room temperature whisky just too warm for my (damn American) taste. One cube, both cools the whisky, without chilling it to the point of palate numbness, and adds that drop of water that opens it up.

Just finish your drink before the cube has melted to the point of watering down your fine whisky. That's seldom a problem for me!

Why not get something like this?

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/521467690/ti-cubes-the-ultimate-titanium-chilling-cubes

(They have them outside of Kickstarter too - I just mean a "cold object that doesn't melt"?)

Actually the term "on the rocks" comes from the fact that they used to drop river stones from the icy "burn" into the whisky glass, you can buy soapstone cubes (same idea as the titanium ones) for this purpose in many places. My main reason for cautioning against the use of ice is because most ice from your feezer carries a "freezer taste" that can affect your precious libation in a negative fashion, my secondary reason is that I figure if the Whisky maker spent 15+ years getting all the water out of it who am I to put it right back in!

A really nice way to drink whisky is to heat the glass a bit first, that really gets the vapours going!

I'm not even going to comment on @colin007 's post other than to ask if he's wearing his wife's panties while enjoying that horrid drink of his. :yucky:

Wisers(I think that's spelled wrong) is another great Canadian whiskey. I had it on a fishing trip and loved it. I found a liquor store in the are that carries it. Very smooth and quite a bit cheaper than crown royal.

Tossing alcohol in the garbage is abusive, it's alcohol abuse plain and simple.

If he pours that stuff down the drain, it might help clean the pipes though....... ;-)

Unless you're planning to invite @David in FL and I over for drinks  , in which case...yeah, you might need to head back to the store... :-P

@colin007 Glenmorangie would be a decent place to start, not too expensive and they have some sweeter tasting stuff. Start with a Glenmorangie that has been aged in a Sherry wood cask. The Macallan is a fantastic scotch from the sweeter side but it's considerably more expensive than Glenmorangie. Glendronach would be another good candidate. These are all in the "softer" category. If you want something closer to Crown Royal just take any of the above, add two sugar cubes and piss in it...

I began drinking single malt scotch w Aberlour 10, you can also try the 12. It was an easy drinker at a reasonable price. The 10 was about $36 and the 12 was just under $50

Blend of single malts from Balvenie, Glenfiddich, and Kininvie for $30 a bottle? I'm intrigued.

Will be whatever swill I can find at the Pepsi Center tonight at the game. Not sure I can stomach paying for more than the $9 draft beer so we'll see.

This is the best blend I've ever encountered for under $30.

    • The International Team is tanking on putts.
    • Decibels is sound 'pressure' not wave frequency. From that perspective a SGI Iron will have very different pressure wave than a blade even with the same speed and other variables considered equal. Additionally, since your phone will not be in direct path the turbulence difference (which generates the sound 'pressure) will have much lesser variance. In other words you will have convergence at one particular speed. Maybe it's this 90MPH speed with your 6i. But I doubt you will have proportional deviation above or below the speed to give you anything will reliability.  And other speeds? 80, 90?
    • You could have saved us all some time by realizing I tend to know what I'm talking about when it comes to science and tech. 😛  What? The only way they would imply that it would be "possible" is if you were able to spend six figures (minimum) AND that doesn't include the swing robot that could reach peak speed at the same exact location every time. No, they didn't say it was possible for someone like you to do anything remotely good. Session to session. The PRGR doesn't work the same way - it samples the speed, from behind (inline with the direction of travel) with radar, and takes the highest number it registers. The distance from the PRGR isn't super relevant. You're not reading. Or understanding. No to both. The former is because of the microphones, and the latter is because a clubhead swing more closed versus more open will have a different air flow and thus a different pitch and volume. Clubheads are not symmetrical. You're missing the point. How reflective some of that stuff is could matter. The sounds it generates to background noise could matter. 85 dBs is generally considered ear-injuring volume. You don't "need to find an app" because this will not work at all.
