Turn took a turn at episode 6. It's getting good now. We didn't get to see the Battle of Trenton, but this isn't a show about the front lines. Stephen Root coincidentally makes his entrance in episode 6. Wish there were more historical dramas.

I am loving Fargo doncha know?.?. Not sure if that is a question or a statement...and I lived there until the age of 29.  The acting is great, the music is great, I only with this was the theme song:

I'm in Minnesota again for the winter
I'm in Minnesota again for the winter

I didn't come for ice fishin', I didn't come for duck huntin'
I'm not Scandinavian or in search of Paul Bunyan

I came for the taper
I came for the tapeworm
well, I came to get better

I'm in Minnesota again for the winter
The thought of ten thousand lakes makes me feel smaller

I didn't come for ice fishin', I didn't come for duck huntin'
I'm not Scandinavian or in search of Paul Bunyan
I'm no fan of the vikings or sub-zero windchills
or drifts bigger than buildings or running on treadmills
but i'm optimistic, but i'm optimistic
cause I'm feelin lucky

I'm in Minnesota again for the winter
The thought of ten thousand lakes makes me feel smaller
The thought of ten thousand lakes makes me feel...
Well, it makes me feel weaker

Hannibal finale had some surprises. Two big ones. All you need to do to act in Hannibal is to stay perfectly still, speak softly and use short sentences, ha ha.

Also, The Americans finale set up an interesting scenario for season 3. Such a good show, seems like the ratings are low - a little better than the relatively unknown show Turn. And imho, The Americans is better than Homeland.

I agree, the finale was pretty great. From what I understand, the live ratings are low, but TONS of people watch it DVRed or on FX's website. Their viewership doubles or triples when you add those in.

Yeah, makes sense. I DVR it or buy it online as well. FX's website, unfortunately Verizon FIOS and FX don't have an agreement.

@jamo - did you notice in the episode before the finale I think, after Stan came back from visiting the Echo site - he removed something taped to his stomach. He was visibly sweating when he took it off. What was that?

I read an interview with the showrunners where they said it was a camera. So he did record Echo, but then decided not to give it to the Russians. They also pretty strongly implied that Nina would be back next season, so that's nice.

Ah, I just thought he didn't go through with copying or switching the disk. Stan was ahead of his time. Did a screen capture we now so commonly take for granted. Did the term even exist back then?

Maybe Arkady Ivanovich does something last minute to save Nina.

I can see the show staying this good for 3, maybe 4 seasons before Stan discovers who the Jennings really are.

I was at the International Spy Museum in DC earlier this month and there was a little exhibit on the show, didn't have time to check it out though.

Anybody else watching 24?

I'm enjoying it.  It's nothing groundbreaking, by any means ... pretty much follows the old formula to a tee, but its still entertaining.

New FX show, Tyrant. Looks good as well. From the creators of Prisoners of War, the show Homeland is based on. There are some really good shows in play now: Of course the HBO shows, but also The Americans, Fargo, Orphan Black, Hannibal, Louie.

    • I think 95% is more accurate. The leader of our course rating program shot from the hip and said 90%, but I recently read elsewhere that it is more like 95%. So we spend 4 hours or more on a course with a team of 6 to 8 people to figure out the last few rating strokes as to whether they exist or not due to difficulty. I credit this site/forum for getting my interest up in volunteering for my state association. I am marshalling for the US Mid Am qualifier later this morning 15 min from my home. We get shirts, hats, 1/4 zips, a cart with our name on it, a radio, lunch and unlimited snacks all while watching some great golfers. πŸ™‚

    • Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).
