Your prodigious length off the tee certainly made you an intimidating force on the golf course. Padraig Harrington recently said in an interview that Tiger Woods still had the intimidation factor in his game despite his recent troubles. What do you see in Tiger's future?

I think that Tiger is going to have an unbelievable year in 2011. I think what he really needs to do is get with Nike and build him a driver that suits his game. Tiger can help me with 13 clubs but if I had about three hours with him on the driver I could cure him. He's so confident with his 3-wood and his irons. But with the driver he just doesn't have a set shot. The ball position is the most crucial thing in the driver. I just want to get him comfortable hitting the same shot with the driver. It's not a club that you really want to work all that much. I've always believed that on the driver you've got to have one shot with it and be able to create another shot with it. Yet he's so good with the 3-wood that if he can't hit the driver he shouldn't hit it. That's his only downfall. He's the best putter that's ever lived: The greatest middle- and long-iron player. But when it comes to the driver I don't know if he would be in the all-time top 50

Tiger has the intimidation factor only because people are aware of what he is capable of if the stars align themselves. I believe his play itself will begin to intimidate people starting next year when he improves this winter and begins winning tournaments again. All he needs is 5 PGA Tour wins and 1 or 2 majors and the intimidation factor will be back. Right now, its a suppressed intimidation factor..like "Will Tiger this week..." versus "Tiger probably will this week".

I am not sure John can fix his driving issues though. If these swing doctors are struggling to help him...not sure John can. Though his driving is improving under Foley.

Tiger's driving problems are all mental IMO. Yes I said it, the most mentally tough player ever has mental problems when it comes to hitting the driver.

That's my view from the couch anyway.

Would Daly teach him his long backswing?

Foley will sort out Tiger, even his driver.

John "miss the cut and quit golf" Daly is going to teach Tiger?

At the risk of sounding like a Tiger fanboy, I seriously doubt JD has any positive lessons for Tiger.

Hey JD - why don't you focus on trying to get your card for next year?

They could definitely swap some skank stories.

Yeah, they probably could but JD only talks to people that worship him. The conversation would probably start out fine until Tiger disagreed with some aspect of JD's "sage advice" - prompting JD to trash Tiger and the PGA via twitter and then quit golf.

I think Daly has a point about the one shot thing.

There is no doubt in my mind that Tiger has shot himself out of a lot of victories because of his driver. He might have been past Jack now with better driving.

I dont profess to being a swing guru or have the technical knowledge to critique various golf swings but I'm a little confused as to the mystery surrounding Tiger's supposed poor driving. If he has the best (or one thereof) swing in the modern game for the 13 other clubs then where does it go when he pulls out the driver??? Surely a large part of his probllem has to be his attitude or thought process when he gets the driver out of the bag. As much as we might critiscise JD for his misgivings I dont think anyone can deny him his ability and I would think his insight into the game at the elite level

If crazy old John Daly knows anything in this world it's how to hit a driver. He's missed a lot of putts in the past few years, , but in his prime he was solid in every aspect ot he game. Very good short game, very good long game, and off the tee . . . poetry in motion. He's got some mental problems and has battled addictions (cigarettes, chocolate cupcakes, booze, floozies, golfing shirtless, etc) but I don't doubt TW would benefit from a chat with JD.

I would agree that through out the years that is the one thing that Daly has been pretty good at. However Daly has a swing that works for him but I don't think it would fit in Tiger's bag. Just my $.02.

I am a John Daly fan let this be known. You have to respect a guy that has dug himself out of what he was in. Granted he dug that hole but has done a good job getting out and resurecting his career.

Daly didn't say anything about changing his swing.

Whenever I read comments like this I think of a couple of Clichés that seem appropriate.

Hang with me here....I've been playing guitar since I was 6 yrs old...professionally since I was 13. One thing I've learned for a fact over the years is that you can learn SOMETHING from everyone, even if they are only half as good as you. Sometimes it's what NOT to do, but nevertheless, everything you take in and process forms you and how you perform. I think JD could pass on something useful to TW without doubt.

I would like to be on the practice tee when John straightens him out with the driver. He's got a good point with his hit the one shot and move on.
