TRUE Shoes, Barefoot, and More

I own a pair of True Tours and True Stealths. They are great shoes. Most comfortable golf shoe I've worn, and surprisingly very stable on the course. Haven't had any slipping issues. The Trues, at least, take some getting used to, as you sit closer to the ground and more on your heels, but after a couple holes they felt much better.

I bought the exact pair you have in the post.  They are very comfortable.  My feet aren't tired after walking 9 and they really help with putting if you read greens the AimPoint way.  With my Adidas, my feet would be tired or toes a bit cramped after 9.  The upper part is a bit stiff at first, but loosens up quickly.  I have also played in the rain with them and there was no loss of traction.  the bottom was easy to clean.

Love my Ecco's and even removed the soft spikes from a pair of Footjoys. The sole was covered in a lot of other traction bits and I saw no reason for the soft spikes... no issues, play great.

I like being able to leave the house in the shoes I'm going to play in... just less fuss, like to keep it simple. YMMV

I've never tried any of the TRUE models but have a pair of Ecco Street Premiere's, and love 'em.  I've got wide, flat feet but find them nearly as comfortable as running shoes.  Grip/traction is fine.  The only time I'd be wary of going spikeless is if it's going to be wet -- i.e. early morning with dew on the ground or if there is rain in the forecast.  Compared to tradition soft spikes, the spikeless shoes more easily accumulate a bit of mud build up which can effect traction.  Food for thought...

I have a pair each of the Ecco Street Premiere and Biom Golf Hybrids.  I use them mostly for the range or when it's been pretty dry out so mud isn't a big issue.  The Ecco's are very comfortable and work well in dry conditions.   In rain, the Biom Hybrids got a little slippery so going forward I'll wear spikes when it's recently rained or threatening to rain.

No. The soles don't have holes in them and they're not made of sponges. :)

I have a pair that is about two years old that I wear almost everyday I'm not wearing shorts. +1 on the eccos. i got the street premiere and i wear a size 13 to 15 depending on how narrow the show is, but a 13/13.5 (47 or whatever it is in EU) fits great and is very comfortable.

Yup, same here.  I wear 13's US, and the 47's are very comfortable.  (All of my work shoes are Eccos as well)

They give me blisters on my heels right now if I don't but on a band aid, but I don't worry about that too much because ALL sports shoes do that to me the first several times I wear them.

Own a pair of the 2012 True Tours and have worn them for a month - they run 1/2 size smaller and are more comfortable out of the box than the 2011 model. Big thumbs up.

Never heard of these until reading this today,  and although I certainly don't need another pair of shoes  (at least not right now!)   I'm going to recommend these to people.

Can anyone attest to the quality of the pair that is  "For charity"  that they sell?   They look pretty good.

It seems there are either TRUE pix or TRUE Stealth versions of the current charity shoes. The pix shoes are discussed in this thread are are the lower price, value, lower attention to detail and lower quality materials entry for TRUE. The Stealths are discussed here as well. I can say that they are as fine as any shoes I've owned. The leather is softer than any of my street shoes and much nicer softer than any golf shoes. I have an older model of Ecco's that retailed for $450 and these TRUES are every bit as well made and way better golf shoes.

I own two pair of Tours and one pair of Stealths. The Tour are wonderful shoes. The Stealths are amazing.

Phx are water Resistant -- like the Ecco Streets. The Tours and the Stealths are waterproof -- which is nice for many and a must for me. I play early with dew and play in the rain if there is no lightning.

i'm an avid runner and fully converted 'minimalist' in many areas of fitness and nutrition (except golf equipment ha), have a pair of true stealths and phx and love them........i will say that the phx takes a bit longer to soften up......green/turf feel is excellent but they could be a bit lighter IMHO

i was always labeled an 'over-pronator' and suffered from shin splints and other foot ailments until i made the commitment to more minimal footwear, not simply for running but my daily shoes as well (or going completely barefoot as often as possible)...........i couldnt be happier with the change, and i am completely injury free 2+ years later with 2 half marathons under my belt......i struggle to wear heeled shoes of any kind anymore, and find standing in them for an extended period very uncomfortable

watching the minimalist community grow over the past few years has been awesome to watch, and it's very encouraging to see the golf industry get onboard as well

for you naysayers :  it's not just about gait mechanics, or whether you can 'run' or 'walk' with a natural gait with heeled/supportive footwear......its about increasing foot and supportive lower leg strength, building balance/stability, added ground feel (proprioception), and strengthening your core which i think we can all agree will help improve your golf game

i would encourage anyone interested in minimal footwear to check out inov-8, and vivobarefoot as well..........the inov-8 155 may be my favorite shoe of all time for running and everyday wear, and vivobarefoot has recently come out with a golf shoe......inov-8 also carries some transitional shoes with more traditional mid-foot support and a mild heel drop

Finally came today... very nice shoes. However, they do feel a bit different than my tours and stealths (both of which are the original versions). They also run about a 1/2 smaller than the original (2011) TRUEs.

I'll post here in a few days after I've had the chance to hit some balls in them and play a round.

Tristan is this in reference to the True Sensi shoe?  I'm guessing they could feel like they run smaller given the toe box isn't as wide as the typical TRUE shoe?  They look more like a standard running shoe from Asics or New Balance?  They do look interesting, so if possible, please share with us what you think in a review.
