+1 wrote a lot of code in my time and always tried to use correct grammar and spelling.

I'm pretty sure you "waisted" your time as well but  @ least heel no y no1s  rspondin 2 hs posts.

Just a word of advice: all people have to judge you is what you type here.

Still, I'm virtually certain I've "waisted" my time just now.

So English and math are BOTH your weak points?  These stats are readily available.  There is only one pro whose GIR is 95% on approaches less than 100 yards , but you claim that they are all at 95% for approaches of 200 yards.  OK.  And I'm sorry to break it to you but either your dad is lying to you or you have no clue as to what 200 yards is.  The best pro on 200+ yard approaches, Chris Couch, is at 60% and there are only a half dozen (that's 6) guys who are over 55%..

So you've just conclusively demonstrated that you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

And it seems to me that back when I wrote code it had to be syntactically correct.  So writing correctly should be habitual for someone who writes code.  But if you would rather portray yourself as ignorant both in what you say and how you say it, have at it.

And in your particular case you're right, you shouldn't go out on the course until you can hit the green 80% of the time from 200 yards.

One of the unfortunate things about the computer age is that whether you like it or not people are going to judge you by the quality of your writing if they don't get the opportunity to meet you in person.

Noone cares about typos and simple errors, but seriously, mate, if you are going to call people morons you are going to have to make some sort of effort to do something about your writing style because it's probably about the most serious case of the pot calling the kettle black I've ever seen. Yours are not the mistakes that people make when they are typing quickly. Seriously.Do something about it. It's embarrassing to read it.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I'm sure you'd feel the same way if I was trying to write code.

To answer your question, there is no "right" answer.  You can improve by going to the driving range, but as was stated earlier, there are limitations.  You can also improve greatly by playing, but it can be pretty frustrating if you can't consistently execute the golf swing enough to move your way around the course.

Pot, meet kettle.  Truth be told, no one here needs to worry about making themselves look stupid because they cannot possibly compete with you.  And I doubt you are a genius programmer.  It does not take a good typist (and all good programmers are good typists) any longer to write a proper sentence than it does for you to write whatever it is you call that crap you write.  Grow up and write like someone that has at least half a brain if you want anyone to take you seriously.

I honestly bit my tongue on the OP's original few posts and just waited for this pot to boil over. Once the OP started calling names I knew it was open season. Any who, dude this is a forum that requires us to read your posts to either understand you or help you. Proper use of the English language or close to will give you respect of others here as well as IRL. Take the same time to proof read and run the spell check as you would out on the range. Grossly misspelled words make it hard to read and take seriously. I am sure you are a nice enough guy but you still might need a English course or two.

To answer your question, a health dose of range and course play is recommended however I did spend more time at the range initially but the course comfort was a higher need because of the time frame between shots. I could often kill it on the range and suck ass on the course.

That's because writing code requires proper syntax, no matter what the OP would have you believe.  He is full of it.  I could probably "out-program" him with one half of the keyboard.

Is that Michelle Wie in his avatar? Yum.

But, back to the OP, not only is he grossly and I suspect purposefully negligent in his ability to communicate, but he is insulting and demeaning, as if someone that stupid could be in any position to demean someone else. Full on flame to follow:

You are so clueless that if you dressed in a clue skin, doused yourself
in clue musk, and did the clue dance in the middle of a field of horny
clues at the height of clue mating season, you still would not have a

clue.

It is hard to believe how incredibly stupid you are. Stupid as a stone
that the other stones make fun of. So stupid that you have traveled
far beyond stupid as we know it and into a new dimension of stupid.

Meta-stupid. Stupid cubed. Trans-stupid stupid. Stupid collapsed to

a singularity where even the stupons have collapsed into stuponium.
Stupid so dense that no intelligence can escape. Singularity stupid.
Blazing hot summer day on Mercury stupid. You emit more stupid in one
minute than our entire galaxy emits in a year. Quasar stupid. It cannot
be possible that anything in our universe can really be this stupid.
This is a primordial fragment from the original big stupid bang. A pure
extract of stupid with absolute stupid purity. Stupid beyond the laws
of nature. I must apologize. I can't go on. This is my epiphany of
stupid. After this experience, you may not hear from me for a while.
I don't think that I can summon the strength left to mock your moronic
opinions and malformed comments.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
