McIlroy is 5 under on his first 9 holes and has a share of the lead. Good looking leaderboard so far.

Really low scores out there. How much tougher can they make the course the last two days? At this rate, they'll be at 20 under by sunday.

Tiger started birdie-birdie, albeit on two pretty easy holes. He birdied 3 and 4 yesterday, and as someone who has played the course, that bunker shot on 4 is one of the best short game shots he's hit all year. That green is so small and slopes so much at the edges, if it had trickled off the green and he would have struggled to make bogey. I've played that front pin they played yesterday, it' absolutely brutal. EDIT: He's bunkered on 3. I've played from that bunker to that pin location, and made par. Tiger's got 9 feet.

He was probably digging his feet in and asking himself, "What would Jamo do here?".

No matter how anyone feels about Ian J Poulter (not a fan but not offended by him either) can we honestly agree that nobody deserves to be put with Kevin Na and Ben Crane for 2 days? That he's got it to -6 bodes well for the Euros at Medinah.

Jamo's made double bogey both time he's played that hole, so I doubt it. :-D EDIT: Thought you were talking about 4.

Absolutely, positively, guaranteed ... no.  (Not that they couldn't be paired together - don't know how they finished - just that it's not the final round) Tourney just started yesterday, tomorrow is round 3, and finishes on Monday holiday.

Isn't there a final pairing every day?

Okay, watching Crane today quickly made me realize that Keegan Bradley is no longer my least favorite person to watch putt.  I kind of wanted to punch my TV while watching his Daddy--err, I mean his caddie--stand over/behind him and spend 2 minutes nudging him into the right line little by little.  I wish there were a way to legislate that out of the game.

Not always.  Sometimes they have final threesomes.

Umm whoops!  I am an idiot!  For some reason, I read "final pairing" as "final round pairing" and was so excited to be a "know-it-all smart-alec" and didn't catch my error.

Maybe in addition to the dumb grammar thread, we can start an "idiots who don't know how to read" thread?

Sorry Jim!

So there was talk that the course would firm up and get faster and be tougher to score on today and tomorrow, but so far Keegan has posted a 63 so it looks like there is still plenty of scoring to be had out there.

OK, that greenside shot Woods hit out of the gnarly rough on 10. He aimed left, it came out right. How'd he do that? Or did he just anticipate a right bounce?

    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
