Hi Guys,

Pretty simple here, in this thread make a post nominating a member of The Sand Trap for a month of free "in-depth" online lessons with both/either Erik ( @iacas ) and/or myself ( @mvmac ). The nominations are open for the entire month of May and the member that is selected with receive the lessons during the month of June. We're planning to have this go for at least a year (six lesson months, six nomination months) so if your guy doesn't get picked there is always next time.

The online lessons will take place in a thread dedicated to them (or perhaps the winner's "My Swing" thread), and will contain a mixture of video and photos.

One nomination per member. You can nominate yourself, someone who might not be able to afford quality instruction or someone who you feel is a solid member and would benefit from working with Erik and I.

When you post make sure to tag the member using the @ symbol. If you're on a mobile device, make sure you click the button to actually use the @ symbol to link to the person.

Also thanks to @cipher for prompting this idea.

@colin007

I know he started a swing thread but it went dormant pretty quickly.

Or @nevets88 .  He always posts interesting stuff.  He has a Member Swing thread and has been to Golf Evolution, but may not use Evolvr.

I could be wrong, but I think @nevets88 is already an Evolvr student. I'm assuming the idea here is to create new students?

Would the free online instruction be a part of a My Swing thread?  I would hope so.  It would be very interesting.

Yes I'm pretty sure we'll make all the videos and stuff available for everyone to see.

That's a good idea.  Sort of make the "price" of the free lessons a diary that we can all follow along with.

Can we nominate more than one person?  If so, I'd like to throw @newtogolf 's hat into the ring, along with @jefkve .  I don't think either of them has done Evolvr before, so I'd like to see what you guys can do for each of them. :beer:

Kind of like Haneys teaching show.  Should be very interesting depending on the student.

As of right now it's one nomination per member, I'll add that to the OP.

A few nominations off the top of my head, in no particular order:

@Crim seems like a decent enough fellow, is a supporter, but not an evolvr student. He seems like he'd listen. He always seems happy when we help him out on his swing thread.

@14ledo81 also seems like a decent guy.

I'd say @Fourputt but I know he rarely plays these days. And if he has a camera, which I doubt, it's probably one of those that you have to crank :-P JK.

@RFKFREAK might listen to you guys.

It's hard to nominate people because I'm not sure which regulars interested in lessons aren't already in the program.

I feel like @Hammer 4 is already getting lessons. So he's out.

I'm not sure how interested they'd be but the following guys would make good candidates if they wanted to be:

@newtogolf , @bplewis24 , @RonTheSavage , @scopek , @meenman , @inthehole .... I'm not sure if @k-troop would be interested. I'm trying to think of a long time member who may be interested....

This is tough. OK, I've said too many names.

@billchao perhaps? I wish I had a comprehensive list here to work with :-D

In other sad news, I've wasted ^^^ this much brain space remembering some of your internet handles. :doh:

Oops. Obviously I didn't read this before finalizing my previous post. Let me rethink this for a second.

I nominate @billchao .

He seems like a good guy, and I seem to remember (apologize if wrong) that he mentioned something about it not being in his budget right now.

OK, then in that case I'll go with @newtogolf ... since I know that Jeff has a set of 5SK DVD's and he's close to you, so it's going to be easier for him to get personal lessons if he wants. :beer:

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
