Drove the ball pretty well but the irons were spraying a bit on me. Just second guessing on yardages and poor club selection because I had misplaced my laser. Had some good scrambling but a couple doubles made it tough to gain ground. Just one of those rounds were the score that didn't really reflect how well I played

Contacting Game Golf, something odd happened with this round. It didn't register any GIR, putts or fairways hit.

Finally signed up for Game Golf.  Played a par-3 course while working on my swing changes.  It is going to take a while to get used to the new grip and backswing, but it was just a fun round.

Hit some good chips to keep the scores decently awful.  Once I slowed down my swing I hit some better shots.

Not a bad round, 18 over from the tips.  Although, since the tips play to only 6300 yards, it's not as impressive as it sounds!  I drove the ball decently, fairway wise, at 64%.  Definitely not enough GIR to help myself.

Won my second round of the Club Championship yesterday 5 and 3.

Looking through the LSW lens:

Best choices:

--Not shooting for back pins: There were a couple long pins ( #1, #11, #14, #16) that I consciously backed away from and that probably saved me from missing at least 2 greens.

--Playing for safety off the tee: Many of the holes are wide open but I tried to chose lines that left me the widest margin for error rather than the best approach. That probably kept me from being jailed at least once.

Worst choices:

--Trying to get cute with front pin positions. I tried to go for a couple of front pins (#7 and #8), mishit both shots and ended up in a bunker.

--Trying to squeeze a little more out of my driver on #13 instead of trusting my swing. Ended up putting that one in the water. I was up 4 in the match at that point and didn't need to do anything rash but did it anyway.

Played with @billchao over at Mercer Oaks. Didn't really bring my game with me but I managed to drive the green on both of the drivable 4's (one of which I three putted for par :censored: )

Well your "B" game is still better than my "A" game. Not sure what game I brought to the course today:

Didn''t finish holes 4, 10, and 15, so I just made up reasonable shots to end up with ESC. I lost 11 balls today :8)

I'm disappointed by the putting. I've been putting pretty well lately and I was awful today. Though in my defense, a bunch of holes were cut in ridiculous positions and everything rolled slower than I'm used to. Not really good excuses, but it is what it is.

Played 18 on Friday and while I did not score as low as I have been it was due to my putting this time, I had 8 3 putts, where I normally have around 2 3 putts around. I had about 8 putts lip out, if I had my normal putting day I would have shot low 90's on this course that I haven't played before, which is fairly difficult. I had my best driving day of the year, I didn't hit many fairways but I only missed them by a few yards and rarely did not have a shot because of missing the fairway, I also was hitting it longer than I have in a long time. So far really pleased with my progress over the past year, but still have a long way to go.

One of the better 9 hole rounds I've played. Wish I sunk some more putts and it could have been really good.

5 GIR

4 nGIR

17 putts :pound:

Hit the irons really solid. Need to get the dispersion tighter to really start scoring better.

Played a round with @SavvySwede at the club he works at. Beautiful place, but a tough course. Greens were a lot faster than I am used to and I couldn't get the speed right at all. Started the day decently in terms of ballstriking but it all went downhill as I turned into a complete hack on the back 9, topping the ball everywhere.

GPS map needs updating, since it looks like I hit two SW shots out of the fairway on the 9th hole for no reason. There's really a bunker there surrounded by heather, which I had to hack my way out of. Twice.

Also didn't play the 10th according to the RoG. Hit two tee shots OB and just dropped a ball where Vince hit his and played it out from there. Figured I was taking ESC there anyway so it didn't matter.

I think you broke GameGolf, Mike. My dashboard says you hit a 411 yard drive on 10.

When I went on my laptop and went into the 10th hole, it gives 269, but even there, my dashboard says he hit a 411 yard drive for longest drive. This is what it looks like on my phone:
Earlier today on the front nine at Chautauqua (Lake): http://www.gamegolf.com/player/iacas/round/574131
Nice drive on 7 ;-)

Nice drive on 7

Grrr. I fixed that earlier. Now again. The tees are being rebuilt so we teed off in the rough by the fairway.

Makes sense. I figured you didn't tee off from an adjacent property :-D

    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
