Read in the Australian News, shocking news Greg had a accident using a chain saw, cutting his left hand, hoping he has a full recovery and wish him well.

Too bad. Greg Norman was ahead of his time. He was using two piece ball when everyone was still using balatas and driving the ball much further and straighter than anyone of his time. He had the game of today's modern day player

He isn't dead.  He just cut his hand.

Article just states he almost severed is hand but no detail. I could cut my finger and state I almost severed my finger... especially if I kept cutting. Anyway with all the cash he has, why didn't he have one of the groundsman working on this?

Some people enjoy doing things of this nature, yard work and cutting down trees etc. No idea why you think everyone would be exaggerating his injury...

I am always very safety conscious, especially around my hands and fingers.  I hope he has a speedy recovery and gets full function back.

I'm sorry to hear about that accident.

Since I use a chainsaw quite often I wish I knew exactly how it happened.

I try to stay aware of kickback possibilities and keeping my legs and feet out of danger.. Usually on modern saws the chain-break safety feature keeps a broken chain from doing serious damage.

I sell chainsaws at work along with many other things. It's scary some of the people who come in to buy one and don't have a clue how to use it or what they're doing and refuse to heed the advice of someone such as myself who has used them and has taken training certification courses from major brands like Husqvarna. I went so far once as to tell a customer "with all due respect I think you're in way over your head and going get hurt". Guy wanted the smalled chainsaw i sell to chop down an enormous tree...

It would be speculating I know but how do you think it happened?

I've had a few close calls over the years, mostly when cutting downed limbs or brush, but none involving anything close to my hand or wrist.

I lived in Charlotte when Hurricane Hugo came through in 89. There were a couple people killed when the tree or big limb sprung back and hit them after cutting. Yuo really need to know what you are doing when using power equipment.

Because, believe it or not, not everyone likes the idea of having servants. They like doing things themselves.

It would be like asking why his chauffer or "driver" wasn't driving him to the shops.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

^^^ +1 I see the richest guy around here working out on his farm whenever he's at home and I would do the same thing no matter how much money I had. P.S. I would take a few more golf trips though. ;-)

There's a photo of the tree he was using the chainsaw on in his Instagram feed. It's small. I would have used a reciprocating saw. It'll take longer, but way safer. I've taken down a tree almost twice that size with only a reciprocating saw, like a Sawzall. With a 12 inch blade.

The news sources mentioned nerve damage. Anyone know if recovery be 100% after this type of surgery?

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

      Awesome, thank you very much. I ended up giving them a call and you are right. Got to try out some different clubs, the first suggestion was the Wilson Staff Launch Pad irons I believe, the hybrid irons. Personally I wasn't liking them all too much, however they were much better than the old '74 MacGregor blades I've been playing. Then I tried a couple others, I forget what the one was but the one I ended up liking the best was the Cobra Aerojet irons. Overall feel and performance was the best for me on these, I also preferred the appearance and sound of these. Bit the bullet.

      Live Updates from the range! Open the club face at address, and trust that you’re gonna be able to get the face in a good position at impact. I don’t have to feel like I have to keep the face open throughout the entire downswing. The swing feels much more free-flowing through impact. Difference in ball flight is that previously it would be a low to mid trajectory that starts straight and draw left, or slight pulls. New ball flight are high push draws.  It’s kind of stupid. I feel like it should slice off the planet. I look up and it’s maybe a slight push. 🤣 Some distant wedge feels. More weight on front foot. Keep weight on front foot.  Pivot around left knee. Solid contact all the time.

      Day 2:  I hit a bucket of balls this morning.  Not gonna lie, almost didn’t go since it was my first time going alone and it was a little intimidating.  I mostly hit with my driver (the last bit of balls was with my 7 iron).  The sun was in my face but I think the ones that had good contact with went the furthest yet (maybe 150 yards then a good roll?).  Once I switched to my 7, the first half of my balls were crap.  I’ve always hit my irons before my driver when practicing and done fine - does this make any difference or is it just because I’m so green?
