- Knoll East circa 2012 - guy paired with holed out from ~ 150 yds on a par 4.

- Boca Raton, FL circa 2012 - Regional Ops Mgr (good player) holed out from ~ 140 yds during a company conference scramble.

A single digit friend hit a drive about 250-ish on a 489 yard par 5, then hit his hybrid which rolled gently onto the green 4 feet from the pin for an eagle putt. At least the best shot I saw this month. One of my playing partners got an ace from 127 yards, my son shot out of a bush to the green and birdied a hole 6 months ago. My daughter rolled a ball 150 yards into the hole from a duffed par 3 tee shot for a birdie.

I can't really remember too many others, but I remember some of my friends made some pretty phenomenal shots at one time or another. I should have kept a more comprehensive golfing diary.

I play regularly with an elderly couple.   The lady shoots around 120 but plays ready golf.   I've seen her hole out two shots, from distance.   One from 75 yards and the other from 56 yards.

About 8 years ago I was gambling with my dad he duck hooked his tee shot on the last hole. I was up one in the fairway and feeling cocky I gave him a free drop like 50y in the woods. 130y out he hit a punch through the trees and hooked it 60y to 5 feet from the pin. I pared, he birdied, I didn't win my 5 bucks that day.

I have seen quite a few hole in ones. Maybe a dozen, or so (?). I once saw a guy hole out from 280 yards on a par 5 for an albatross. He also dabbled in the long drive championships in Mesquite I found out later. He gained  4 strokes on me, just on that one hole

Been over 15 years ago, but two of my buddies and I skipped out work and went to play golf on a nice spring day.  One of my buddies got a hole-in-one, hit it about 3 feet past the pin and the ball rolled down the slight slope and into the hole.

Best shot was on an outing with 8 of us in North Carolina playing Tobacco Road, I was in the first group and it was play was pretty backed up. So on #11 (511 yd, 5 par, dog leg right to an elevated green protected by a huge sand area all along the right side), we hang out at the green to watch our buddies pay up.

One of the worst golfers in our group (probably plays to a 20-25) hits his approach from about 140, a low approach that hits short of the green skips up and past the pin to the back of the green where it catches the slope and slowly rolls about 40 feet back and into the hole for an eagle.

We go crazy, yelling & high fives - my buddy gets all pissy because he thinks we are just screwing with him .... until he walks up and takes it out of the hole.

With the elevation, he can't see the green but thought it had rolled over the back.

the most amazing shot I've ever witnessed was playing with a couple of buddies and one of them hits it from the woods on 18, splitting it between two branches of a tree right in front of him. It flies the green, hits a tree probably 10-15 yards over the back and caroms back onto the green about 6 feet from the hole - knocks it in for a "routine" birdie.

I lost a few bucks on both of those.

A couple of years ago I played a three day tournament in Italy. First day I was playing together with an Italian golfer who played of HCP 1. He was not playing to his handicap, but you could see he was a true golfer. Also very nice and helpfull.

On the last day, players that already finished their round gathered behind the green of hole 18, one of the most difficult holes of the course. We applouded for everyone hitting the green, it did not matter if it was a chip or a long shot. And there he was, my Italian friend, hitting a very high approach form 160y. Most people already started clapping while the ball was on the way to the green. Then it it the green less then a yard from the hole, and a great roar when it went in.

Thirty years ago, a friend of mine hit a great drive on #17 at Blueberry Hill GC in Ackley Pa, a dogleg par 4 with a pond in front of the green. He skulled his approach shot, skipped off the water and came to rest right next to the front pin for a birdie. We played the hole again that day and he hit another great drive in a similar place. He hits a beautiful shot right at the pin with the same iron. It hits a sprinkler head that is placed right at the edge of the green and bounces back into the water! Golf gods just evening things out! :-P

My wife (who is not really a golfer but comes out occasionally) and I did a stay and play at La Quinta several years back.  We were  playing one of the courses (I think it was the Jack Nicklaus course) when my wife hit into a sand trap.  Not just any sand trap, one of those with a 15 foot high timber lined front wall - there were stairs to get down there.   So she goes on down (after I tell her to take a swing or two and then just throw it) and swings at the ball.

Through the magic of - well - magic, she catches the ball perfectly.  She clears the giant monster wall in front of her and the ball ends up about 6 inches from the hole.  Put Phil or Tiger there with 50 balls each and I'd bet $100 that neither of them would get inside of where she ended up.

She made the putt.  LOL

Playing a round in Reno, I witnessed my dad getting an ace on a short par 4... It was like 322 or something slight downhill dead straight.   My dad is also a golfer professional so it was like his 6 or 7th ace. O:

It wasn't the distance, we were 40 yards right of the fairway! And he still hit to the right of us :-P

Kind of but also not really from the tee box.  Dog leg left and yeah you guys were off the fairway but kinda straight out from where the aiming line is for his draw.  And yeah he was right of you guys(from our position) but the story is so much better when you leave that out.
