Quote:

Chris DiMarco, a Golf Channel analyst who finished second to Woods in the memorable 2005 Masters, said Woods was not forthright about the reason he withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open in February.

"There was no back problem, he was embarrassed to be out there," DiMarco said. "He wasn't doing anything good, and I think there was something wrong and he couldn't take care of it."

After Woods' disastrous 2015 debut at the Phoenix Open, Woods said he had hit thousands of chip shots leading up to the event, but still could not take it from the practice green to the course.

"It’s easy to say you can fix it at home, chipping with your buddies or whatever," DiMarco said. "But when it’s the first hole at Augusta and you’ve got to hit it over a bunker from short right and you’ve got no green to work with and everything is on the line, is that when it’s going to be fixed?"

So that's what happened to DiMarco. He's hanging with Chamblee.

Exactly Chamblee is in his ear. So when he couldn't bend over to get his tee and had to be picked up fo him, he was faking it? Please.

I'll admit, I do think there's something going on with Tiger that's very fishy that we don't know about. I smell a lot of smoke. But I'm not ready to point my finger on what it is and I'm definitely not going to listen to Dimarco or Chamblee about it.

I have no insight to what DiMarco knows or doesn't know but given his place in golf I hope he has facts to back up these statements.

I'm not shocked by the comments, I actually questioned if Tiger was really injured when he withdrew as well but I'm just an anonymous person on a golf forum who doesn't ever have to face Tiger after calling him a liar.

You would hope but I don't think he does. Look carefully at his words ... He's starts by sounding very knowing and factual and then says "... And I THINK there was something wrong ..." If he had facts or a source or something, there's no reason to hedge there. I think he's talking out of his ass. Now, it's a speculation that could be entirely true, but somebody with that platform shouldnt have the kind of leeway to speculate that us anonymous nobody's have.

The thing for me is that he's had no history of suspect withdrawls at all. They've all been for legitimate reasons. Tiger's played through some really awful, sad stretches of golf before, and not bailed out.

Exactly, he is one of the inner circle guys I'd think/hope he'd have more respect for his peers than to go on a syndicated radio talk show and speculate or worse spew lies.

I think the comments in the article are from another conference call, because he didn't say those things in the Dan Patrick show. He said things like.. No I'm not better than him, even now (paraphrasing), he said things like I would never doubt Tiger because he is motivated by proving people wrong.. He gave tiger so much respect its not even funny.. The article and the interview look like they are two different people. He did mention that he didn't think that tiger is ready to play the masters, but I didn't hear any of the other stuff at all.. Did you both listen to the whole interview? Did I miss something that was said?

I didn't watch any of the interview, I read the article. And now with your info, it makes sense that it was two different occasions, because in the article, they preface the interview after they list the comments ntg and I are talking about. He obviously said them at different times.

So DiMarco just said on Morning drive, 20% chance TW plays the Masters. The last fee days I thought it was closer to 80%. But it's Friday, he has to announce something today, or maybe he isn't playing after All. I don't think DiMarco based it on anything, but it is getting late. Cmon Tiger we need you there, or at least I do.

In this other thread it is suggested that Tiger doesn't need to advise ANGC one way or another prior to the day of. Seems odd, and if true the Networks must HATE that but, it's what the article claims. Woods shot 2-over 74 in his Tuesday round, according to a Golfweek report citing a source familiar with Woods' round. The 14-time major winner, with caddie Joe LaCava on the bag, played with two Augusta National members, making five birdies but hitting several "indifferent" chip shots.

The four-time Masters winner is not required to tell club officials of his plans and does not have to appear at the tournament until just before his to-be-assigned Thursday tee time.

How did he come up with that 20% number? Does he have any specific insight or just speculating again? If Tiger isn't playing, it's in ANGC's best interest that he keeps the suspense going because the ticket will still have a higher value than if he came out to say he isn't playing. There are reports that he shot 74 on his visit to Augusta.

Tiger wasn't forthcoming with his explanations of his chipping woes during the Hero and the Phoenix, but he definitely was injured at Torrey.

I listened to the interview.  He states during the interview he believes Tigers problems are mental.  When asked directly, he states,

Dan: "Is this more mental or physical?" (referring to Tigers struggles)

Chris:  "I think it's mental"

He suggests that Tiger will not compete in the Masters because he's not ready mentally.

He was respectful during the interview and offered his opinion on Tiger as an insider without substantiating anything he said about the mental struggles he claims Tiger is having.

In the written article he's credited with making statements that are much more controversial than what was said during the Dan Patrick interview.  Was he misquoted, or looking for some notoriety, who knows?  But given he's still involved with the Tour you'd think he'd deny what was written if he didn't say those things.

    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
