The 80 today by Tiger makes the 85 two weeks ago seem less intentional than Tiger led us to believe.  He needs to leave the driver in the hotel room and go back to his stinger shot off the tee, assuming he can still hit that shot.

Yeah, hit the club he cold topped more? Nah. 3W was even worse than driver. You can't miss right at the Old Course.

I thought his stinger shot was with a 2 iron.

Tiger needs to go in a different direction. This seems like rock bottom.

According to Notah Begay last night, expect Tiger to begin rebounding this week and he's headed in the right direction. Expect to hear the words "process" and "swing patterns" in his next PC, whenever the heck that is.

Honestly, I don't know where he goes from here. Everyone says he needs to play more tournaments....but he's played twice in 3 weeks now and it seems it's getting worse. I think the Como experiment is headed down the wrong path and I think the sooner he realizes this, the sooner he can right this ship....if it can be righted. That's just the way I see it.

People keep blaming Como but no one even knows with certainty what Como is instructing Tiger to do.  Como didn't make Tiger top his 3W off the deck on 18, I just don't think Tiger has confidence in his swing on the course during tournament conditions.  Everyone says how great his swing looks on the range and how he can make the ball do whatever he wants it to, so the problem might not be the swing but in his head.

Man Tiger looks quite humbled in that little interview. Good laugh it off attitude about Rickie. Though I guess, what else is he supposed to do?

He looked like he wanted to admit he is lost out there.

Could be. And I'm not necessarily blaming Como. I just don't think Tiger should be with him. Period. I do think a lot of it's mental. I thought he was doing pretty well with Sean after a solid 2013 season but has gone in a different direction yet again. I don't necessarily like his swing with the driver. Even on the range when it's good, he seems he's dipping too much...almost like he's trying to sweep it off the ground. Tiger at his best used to swing down and through it more. Just doesn't look right.

I thought his stinger shot was with a 2 iron.

It's been a decade since Tiger had the 2-iron in his bag. When he was with Haney, he learned to shape the 5-wood any way he wanted. I would suggest that maybe returning to the stinger as a troubleshooter off the tee would be a good idea for him, but he desperately needs to simplify his game, not add even more debris to the dumpster fire.

What we are witnessing here with Tiger is not so perplexing. He has lost his game and unfortunately may never find it again. His physical ailments have also contributed to his demise.

This happened to David Duval, IB-Finch, Seve.............I think there is too much scar tissue now to ever recover.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
