It's ****ing JOOST LUITEN bro.

:-)

Walking the back nine in -3, impressive. Solid performance so far, very curious about the weekend.

Anyone see that grimace from Tiger after his nice approach?  He was removing his glove gingerly to reveal a bandage on his left index finger. Have they mentioned an injured finger?

Happened on the first hole this morning.

He hit approach shot left on hillside and slipped and fell on his butt.

He then shook his hand like he scraped it or landed on something sharp.

"El Pato" is Spanish for "the duck;" you can imagine what kind of ball Angel Cabrera hit off the tenth tee.

I know he's been battling vertigo and dizziness spells recently. They aren't looking at his knees, so that's good.

Many are going to disagree with me on this, but majors don't feel like majors with Tiger missing from the weekend...maybe I should get used to it though

Louis Oosthuizen might make the cut after a +7 start with the Fowler/Woods group.

He is -4 today (all on his back 9), at +3 overall, which is likely going to be good enough to play the weekend.  Just needs to finish out strong.

Yeah...I think this is one of the big problems with golf at this exact moment.  Nobody wants to admit it, or get used to it....But right now Tiger is just another golfer...actually another below average golfer...I think people need to start looking at the younger rising stars of the game right now....If tiger ever gets some kind of form back then great.  But as much as everyone wants him to be the face of the game, frankly right now he is a bad pro golfer....

Let's hope it's exhaustion for Day, and nothing more serious. Maybe get some fluids in him after the round, and check into the hotel early. He'll have a late tee time tomorrow, so he'll have plenty of time to gauge his fitness. Inevitably, there will be comparisons to Ken Venturi at the '64 Open.

Also a nice crack from Butch on Sky: "Would you change anything about Jordan?" "Maybe the route he takes to the bank each week so he doesn't get robbed."

I hope Day is okay, pretty impressive how he gutted it out.  Who says golfers aren't tough?

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
