I've had 4 different drivers in 8 years. The current one is fitted for me and I'm not expecting to change it out for at least a couple more years

I've had a new driver just about every year since I've been at TST. So, because the question doesn't specifically ask how often I buy a new driver, I'll say every year.

TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad TaylorMade R9 SuperDeep Ping i15 Nike Covert + Covert Tour BombTech Grenade Cobra BioCell+ Nike Vapor Flex That's since ... 2007 or so? I really like the BioCell+, but the Vapor Flex is a bit easier to hit a draw with, so that might be what I end up going with this season.

I think I have had 3 since 09.

Currently I am playing an older Callaway model.  I would like to replace it now, but probably won't for at least another year.

I voted every 5 years.  I just got a new driver, a Ping G30 that replaced a Taylor Made Tour Burner TP that I had for 8 years or so.  The driver before that was an Integra from a long time ago.

2-4 years but definitely closer to 4 than 2.  My last change was only because I wanted to get in on the low spin revolution after seeing my numbers with a fitted SLDR.

I voted 5+ but it is probably more like 4+.

I have had 6 drivers over 25+ years.  The first driver I had that I really liked I bought around 2003. It was a Kent Sports head, Alpha Reaction?, that Fiddlers Green in Eugene assembled for me.  About 6 years ago I decided I needed to catch up with the current technology.   I tested out a Ping G10 and really liked it but got cheap and bought a TaylorMade Burner instead, saved myself a whole $50.  I played with the Burner a couple years and never really liked it.  I broke down and bought a used Ping G15 on Ebay and haven't looked back. I don't have any plans of replacing it anytime soon.  If I do it will likely be another Ping.

I voted 2-4 years and that used to be about my norm.

I kept the same one from about 92 until 99, not so much out of love but inactivity. I just didn't play much from '94 until maybe '01. The newest driver I have is a Titleist 905T that I probably bought 5 years ago. The metal driver that gets the most play is an old Taylor 360 with what I call an "LSU" shaft, that old gold and purple UST/Mamiya (sp) that so many folks have used.

Persimmon is another thing entirely. The one in my sig has been there not quite a year, but will probably stay in the rotation. I just picked up an 80's/90's repro set of Macgregor Eyeomatics with a 12* driver that may get in the rotation. I have a couple of other persimmons that get played from time to time, and I always have my eye out for the next experiment.

I think I will get fitted this year, and if I do and it works I see no reason to ever get another for at least 5 years. Other wise 2-4 sounds good!

3 drivers in 8 years or so. same for my woods in general.

I buy used ones from last season about half price or so.

using Taylormade I feel the difference in forgiveness. Also the overall feel is really better every 2-3 years. I dont think every year there is much change yet I cant close my eyes on forgiveness too long either.

I get extra yards on average hitting better shots on average. I dont think the clubs play longer though.

The last few years, I don't buy a driver unless I get a fitting.

And, I don't switch until a new driver comes that really outdoes my previous one.

In "modern times," I played the Callaway HyperX Tour (R.flex) from 2008-2012, and currently play the Razr Fit (R.flex).

I've tried other drivers, but the RazrFit still scopes out as the most reliable.

Broken record here....My driver I bought new 3 yrs ago.  But it was a couple yrs old model at that time.  This is probably the one club that may get replaced this year.  I enjoy gear, but I like to spend my allotted money on playing not as much on gear.

This year I shall be playing my new Cleveland 970 xl classic,  This topic made me go back and count and I think that since 1975 I have had 8 drivers.  And 4 of them have been in the last 15 years..   So doing the math every 5 yrs  I am changing drivers the last change occurred 4 seasons ago.

Average is just over 2 years, but there have been some glitches in that plan,

Had the Nike Sumo for 6 months, Titleist 907 D2 for 2 years, Titleist 910 for 3.5 years until screw snapped, Now my 913 D2 screw snapped after a year so I have picked up a Big Bertha while it gets fixed, not sure which driver I am keeping when it comes back.

I voted 2- 4 years. I tend to demo clubs a lot more then buy them. Unless something really stands out as I like I'll play the clubs I got.

I voted 2-4 years.  Played a TM Burner from 2008-2010, sold it to a friend when I bought the Ping K15.  Have played the K15 from 2010 until this month, when I bought a Ping G30 SFTec.  I also occasionally rotated a TM R11s in and out of my bag with the K15, but ultimately shelved it because I hit the K15 better/more consistently.  I don't count the R11 as a "replacement" because I didn't buy it and really had no intention of replacing my driver - I won it in a raffle at a golf tournament and it was the latest/greatest thing at the time, so I couldn't resist trying something shiny and new (and free!).

Just yesterday replaced my 907D1 with a Cobra BioCell.  First replacement in i'm guessing 7 years since I got the Titleist at the end of season.  Son gets the old one, still working fine.

I just replaced my Titleist 910 D2, so I voted 5+. We'll see if it takes this time.  While I've had a few other drivers in the bag from time to time to demo, I've never strayed for long from the 910. But this year, I actually purchased a new driver (G30, TFC Tour 80), which has been as long or longer and more consistent.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
