That's good to know. Have you noticed whether Costco still does Titleist balls or is it all Callaway now?

They sell all Callaway golf products in store, with the exception of a random Adams hybrid. Callaway branded gloves, shoes, umbrellas, clubs, bags, and balls: 3 piece Hex Control, the urethane Hex Pro, and now a distance ball called the Superhot. The Pro may have been phased out; I haven't seen it in a bit.

I have two dozen of their old Titleist Tour Distance balls sitting in the basement that I forgot about, haha.

I don't think I'm that good to be discerning between the premium balls, of course I'm not hitting Mojo's or pinnacles or noodles either, I think when I did that bridgestone fitting I got the b330rx which was a nice ball and seemed to perform well. Right now I'm leaning towards prov1x though I'll still play z stars also, I think they're all good.

I really don't have a lot of background to say if it's my fault or what but to me it seems the callaway hex hot is more reactive to side spin on drawing /slicing compared to the callaway chrome and titleist DTs. I've only been using them for a little under a month and i've had some great 320-330yd drives with them (luck more than skill, lol) but if you're open or closed at all it seems they are a bit harder to control, mainly off the tee box.

It's probably a small sample size deal. A distance ball like the Hex Hot is unlikely to spin more than a urethane ball like the Chrome. But strike and the angles you deliver can override small differences in spin characteristics. Hell, I've banana ball sliced the Polara ball that supposedly is meant to go straight and prevent slices.

Top Flite... If I swallowed one, 24 hours later I could fart it down the fareway farther than I could hit it. AND I"M SERIOUS!

Top Flites have been accused of many things, but I've never heard of them being labeled as distance-costing.

Erik and Mike did a vlog playing alternate shot with a women's Top Flite ball and shot -3. They mentioned a slight loss of distance versus tour balls, but it didn't seem to have a major impact on their scoring (I think they estimated a few strokes over the round at their skill level).

Think the distance part just depends on the swing speed.

I've tried and not liked;

  • Noodle Long and Soft
  • Nike Mojo
  • Slazenger Raw Distance Feel
  • Nike Vapor Black

I had heard a lot of good things about the Noodle Long and Soft when I first joined this site so I had bought some.  When I first tried them I liked them but at that point I probably couldn't tell the difference between a rock and a golf ball.  I decided to hit a few recently to see if they felt different to me and I just didn't like how they felt off any club, including the putter, very muted and dead feeling.

The Vapor Blacks were borderline for making this list, but like the Noodles I tried them again recently since I had a few sleeves lying around.  They were better than the other balls on the list, but didn't feel right off the putter.

Would that be teed up or off the deck? :-) I think Pro-V1's feel mushy and Pro-V1x feel like a Top-Flite (old version).

Never really like TaylorMade balls, especially the Penta. For whatever reason it was short for me off the tee and wasn't great with wind.

I think two or three shots on a 69 is a major impact on scoring.

It was a little shorter off the tee, yes. It was also a ball supposedly for women, so…

Good point, do you think it would still cost the average bogey golfer those same 2-3 shots?

I don't know. Kind of depends on some things, like what they expect and play for on short game shots, in particular. Might cost them more.

Either way I think he should be permitted to lift and clean it before his second shot.

I have never ever liked the feel of  Pro-V 1 or X's.

If and when I find them I give them to whom ever I am playing with.

I find them to be extremely overrated for the type of player I am and my game.

Found a few Crystal golf balls on the golf course.  Looked funny, some type of hard plastic coating on them, they were as hard as a rock, harder than the Top Flite XL3000s I found in the trunk of my car when I needed my spare tire that were 9 years old.
