I witnessed something very similar a couple years ago. I was playing Desert Willow and the tenth tee is right near a pond and there were a lot of mud hens... one of the lady's in our group hit a worm burner that hit one square in the head. She felt really bad and didn't play very well for the rest of the round.

My wife hit a small bird.   The ball hit it on a 2nd bounce - not so hard.   But in human term, it was probably like getting hit by a bowling ball.  It killed it.   My wife couldn't focus on the round after that.  She ended the round with a poor score.

BTW, I loved the guy's reaction after he hits the bird.   Tragic but funny (not for the bird!).

Not quite as amazing as Randy Johnson's fastball with the pigeon, but still pretty crazy.

So do you mark this down as a birdie or an albatross?

Too bad for the bird. I, and others have hit birds on the driving range after over seeding has taken place. Mostly pigeons.  Not just worm burners, but good shots, hitting a bird in mid air. Unfortunate, but it happens.

Ever seen a Goose's head explode? Yeah, well.. it isn't pretty. Play near the water and it's not as rare as you think.

Sad that this happened. I know plenty of golfers I would rather that ball hit than the poor gull!

I apologize for having a spam URL in my signature and will not do it again.

That will teach the gulls to play faster or at least let golfers behind them play through.

Lol. Sad. But funny. My dad hit into a tree about 175 away last week. We found his ball and a dead bird under it. I told him that was bad luck. Then he took my money and has every time out since. Maybe i should find a bird

I have seen that a few times ... hit one, and the poor fellow flounced around a bit before I could get to him ... felt bad for the little fellow ...

A friend of mine (lady) hit a goose with a drive. It didn't even flinch and had the look of "is that all you got?"

Geese are tough. I saw one get run over by a car once, it just got up and kept on walking.

That was a deer's look after my wife hit it squarely on his side.  It made a loud thud noise.   He just got up and walked away as if nothing happened.    Did I mention she hit me once, too?   I suspect that was fully intended  .    My look wasn't one of "is that all you got?"   It was more like, what did I do this time?

    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
    • Day 1 - 2025-12-20 Starting a new streak, of at least 1. With rain dumping for the next week in the north bay area, I'll be a lot of outdoor net work and maybe some putting. About 10 minutes of 7 iron work, focused on the usuals: weight transfer, keeping hands behind me. I'll have more time in the coming days for video review and maybe some Hack Motion.
    • Day 40 (20 Dec 25) - got in a few reps with the 55° wedge - focused on low flighted spinners from about 10 yds in, then wrapped up the session with a few bump and runs chips with the 5i using a putting type stroke.
