(Monday, too)

Tried to fiddle with some things on the course (good idea it was not) and started the round with double bogey, quadruple bogey (is that even a thing - 9 on a par 5), another quadruple bogey (8 on a par 4), bogey'd a par 3, and put up another 9 on a par 5.  Suffice to say, starting the round by scoring 15 over par on the first 5 holes was not what I envisioned.

Shot a 22 over par on the front 9 (58 on a par 36).

Decided to just do what had been working for me on the back nine and got 2 pars, 3 bogeys, 3 double bogeys, and a 1 triple bogey for a 12 over par.

For me, shooting under 50 (48 on par 36) on the back felt great.  I'm sure a lot of people here wouldn't feel so great about throwing up that kind of number on the back 9 but I was very pleased at my recovery.

My goal right now.is to try and consistently shoot under 100 so anytime I put up a 50 or less on the front or back, I'm happy.

So, overall, shot a 106 on a par 72 wasn't terrible (for me, anyway).

I won't even go into the course details, but suffice it to say I shot 88 yesterday.  25 mph winds......gusts higher, but that's really no excuse.  Just a mess of a day.

Gonna get back on the horse today before going away for the weekend.  Gotta get the taste of yesterday's round out of my mouth!

Miami Springs CR 69.6/116 - 113

Most disappointing 113 I could shoot! (Normally, I'd be satisfied with that score)  65-48, 38 putts. Went off the back 9 first, as a single. Passed a couple of groups, and then the rain started. I should have stopped playing, but I pushed on. The three 'rain holes' I had were 9, 10, 8. Everything else was 7 or under, including a birdie on the last  It was a LONG birdie putt, too. probably 25 feet. And I KNEW I was gonna make it, too. Funny how that works!

Still looking for that sub-100 round. I know it's in me somewhere. And it's close!

Score aside, I was striking my irons better than ever, and the driver wasn't awful.

The 48 on the back, and the long bird on the last really were nice to end it.

88 at home, not interesting.

What was interesting was one of the guys in the group made a hole in one, his first in 40 years of trying. I didn't get to see it in person as he was playing in the foursome ahead of mine but it was a really fun time celebrating his achievement.

Three birdies and seven bogies for a four over par 75. About what I deserved with the bad approach shots I was hitting but it would have been nice if a few of the long birdie putts would have gone in the hole instead of lipping out. Oh well, I should have hit them closer.

I hit a 337 yard drive today. Followed by by a driver , 4w ,9i and sand wedge just to get to the green on a 381 yard par 4 two holes later. The wind was brutal. I feel fortunate to have kept it to 45 strokes. Just couldn't figure out the wind. Half the time it had no influence and some shots practically went straight up before getting blown down.

Shot a 114 Saturday. Back nine couldn't hit a ball of the tee to save my life. Either chunked the ball or hit it thin. It helped me have five penalty strokes after having none on the front nine. The only thing that felt good consistently was my short iron and wedge full swings. An absolutely abysmal day otherwise. Back at it tomorrow/Sunday.

With back to back double boggies on the front nine, and a triple bogey, bogey to start the back nine. 4 birdies 8 pars today pretty good day of golf. In the past two weeks I've shot a 77, 92, 76. My games really came along since I started playing last month.

Rutgers today, shot 96. Great weather for November. Had a few consistency problems with my long game, but that's in transition, so I expected it.

Short game was solid today. I think I only made one or two mistakes and even managed to hit six shots inside 4' (one was out of a bunker). I only made three of those putts, though (I made the sandy), so needless to say, had a fairly poor putting day.

Five fairways hit, one GIR, nine errant tee shots that cost me strokes. Definitely felt like I could have made more of the round, but I don't play often enough to shake off the rust. I'll take the 96.

Played Western Turnpike Blue to Red (6,026 yards, CR: 70; Slope 127).

Put up a dreadful 118 today.

Found a way to hit my driver well (for me) and my long and short iron play wasn't too bad.

But my pitching, chipping, and putting today - absolutely dreadful.

Shot 101 yesterday at Knoxville municiple. That's an improvement from 108 my last round. Still fighting inconsistent ball striking and slicing the driver. But I blew a lot of strokes with pitching. Shanked a few and that hurt. Big addition is my RBZ Stage 2 Hybrid 3. It's super easy to hit off the deck. Big help on par 5s and after I've screwed the driver off the tee

Its a month since my last game.I was as rusty as hell.only 1 fairway hit all day and only 4 g.i.r.

my iron play got me out of a lot of trouble.I somehow managed to get through 17 holes without a double bogey, then I finished with a triple.I

I finished 3 over my handicap, but it felt much worse.

Par 72 rate 73.7 slope 137

82 front 43 back 39

Played some really good approaches think I had at least 5 or 6 putts within 15' that I couldn't convert, made 3 birdies on the round but it was just another one of those days that could have been, I played real well on the back side that plays about 2 to 3 strokes harder than the front had 2 doubles on the front that destroyed that side.

Shot 87 - 43 & 44.

My best short game ever I think and only took 29 putts, which for my handicap is very good I thought!

Still only 3 GIR and 6 FIR though, Driver needs improving a lot

    • Day 14, April 22.  This morning, before going to work, I took the time to hit two dozen balls (indoors, off the mat, into the net), all with a 6-iron.  As before, this was focused on the pelvis separation and the length of the backswing -- yesterday's video view was encouraging that I'm making progress.
    • Hey folks, Here's be a better video that outlines some of my challenges.  Any suggestiosn welcome.
    • I enjoyed the distance wedges episode. It's something that I've not really taken the time to figure out for sure, but I went to a local trackman place over the winter and tested my four wedges (PW, AW, 54, 58) and got four yardages with each one. I am using Dan Grieve's method - you have a 1, 2, 3, and "full". The number references the number of clubhead widths between your heels.  I never really got to grips with the clock method - I'd find my 9:00 one day would go 40 yards and the next day 60 yards purely based on how fast I happened to swing it, but I couldn't turn that off and I was basically at sea with the speed method (Wesley Bryan does this - he takes almost a full swing for a 15 yard chip). The Grieve method I set my stance width and that really limits how much my swing moves back and forth and the speed seems to be naturally more consistent.  Anyway, I wound up with four yardages for each club - PW 48, 80, 112, 127; AW 41, 73, 101, 112; 54 36, 57, 91, 98; 58 28, 47, 81, 86 So, in order, I have 28, 36, 41, 47, 48, 57, 73, 80, 81, 86, 91, 98, 101, 112, 112, 127 which gives me a pretty good set of numbers. I do have a big gap from 57 to 73, but I can do a 2.5 58, which is giving me about 64. Then as they noted you can give it a bit more, or grip down on a club too to adjust a little bit. It's really useful and very freeing to just know what to do. When you have a 54 yard pitch, rather than pulling my 58 and thinking how hard is 54, I can just take my 54, do a "2" swing and just grip down a little and I'm in decent shape.  Incidentally, Erik talked a bit about watching Scheffler picking off his yardages to within a yard. I've watched DJ do that too with his wedges. Scottie does it trying to hit it all the way up to like 200 exactly with a 6-iron and he's hitting it 200.5, 199.7, etc. Absolutely mind blowing how good his distance control is. Insane.
