What'd You Shoot Today?

Recommended Posts

I played in our club senior net championship on Thursday.  It was rainy, some wind, and the course was muddy, so they played lift, clean and place within 12 inches.  There was a lot of grumbling about conditions, but I think the game is so much easier when you can put your hands on the ball versus playing it as it lies (especially from the spots that I tend to end up).

Shot 81 with a 17 handicap for a net 64 (15.6 index).  I would have won the overall, but I was 12 days short of my 55th birthday.  Oh well.

Took the day off to play at Babe Zaharias GC with the Tuesday Game.....hoping to get a round in with the rain....Not only did we have to cancel the game, but the guy who runs the Tuesday Game passed away last night. Rainey has been a great friend for the past 12 years....and he will surely be missed. Not only did he keep the books for the Tuesday game, but he was one of our officers for the Pebble Creek Golf Ass'n and instrumental in putting together the formula we use to keep track of our Points each week. Rainey Milligan was 78 yrs old. This past summer he shot his age. Last week he won the Tuesday Game as well as the Saturday Game. He was a good golfer and a vet (USN). I'll miss you Rainey!

Sorry for your loss, Foz

Sorry for your loss. I think most of us on the forum can only hope to be playing golf at a high level until we leave this world. Also, much respect for his service to our country.

Thanks all for your sentiments.  Rainey was a great friend and was on top of his game lately...something all of us would like to be when it's our time.  Be safe and if you are experiencing issues like acid reflux, please consult your doctor.  It appears some of the heart attack warning signs can be misconstrued as acid reflux issues. Rainey had an appt scheduled for next week.

Brookside Course 1 Gold tees, 86 (44/42) (7100 yards). Drives were really long today, about 235-255 yards, maybe closer to 245-250. Couple shorter 235 ones, though.

79 yesterday on a 6000 yard course and 86 on the super long course today. I didn't think I could make that carry on the 6th hole, but it just barely passed the water line and ended up in the rough which kept it from rolling back into the water.

First scoring round in 2 months. Let's see how it affects my handicap!

My swings are athletic, but not stressful on any part of my body. Especially important as I am still nursing my shoulder.

I topped my hybrid 3 times today, and was just about to take it out of my bag, when on the last hole I hit 220 yards. Need to figure out where is the bottom of my path.

Looking forward to my next lesson with Mike after my son is done with his finals. Planning to post some videos as I am taking some time off from playing the course for three weeks or so.

My shoulder is getting a lot better, and I'm finally giving it a chance to really heal. After this rest phase, I am hoping to do some strength training for the muscles that were injured.

Unadvertised perk at the local muni - free golf on Thanksgiving. The course is closed but they open the gates and walkers can help themselves to unlimited golf. Played a quick nine in just over an hour. Didn't keep score, just thankful to get a round in this late in Michigan.

81. :-D

Another chip-in. ...but at least this time I hit 7 fairways (and several of my misses weren't bad at all).

Just under 40F at tee off - 60F by the end.  And the round was free too!

Sunday

Miami Shores GC, Troy, OH

48-49-97

I think I left my swing under a snow drift a few weeks back. Sprayed the bloody thing in every conceivable direction, got pissed and let it make my putting equally horrible. The weather offered no excuses. High temps were in the low- 60s and it was dry. It felt like my body simply wouldn't do what my brain was trying to tell it. It's beyond me how I avoided triple digits here. At least it was some exercise. I think I'm still carrying around a few extra pounds of beer and turkey.

Weather was decent here in the Philadelphia area yesterday so I dusted off the clubs and got a round in. Hadn't played in about a month but still had the best day of my life off the tee, hitting 10/14 fairways, which is absolutely unheard of for me. From that point on, though, the rust showed and I was all over the place, especially my short game, so I ended the day with a 101. Despite the score, was thrilled to get out again this year.

Yesterday was a bonus day in the Philly area, so I was happy to get a round in, but the golf wasn't very good.

43-48-91

The 48 on the back was kind of bogus, as I didn't finish three straight holes, 13 thru 15 and took 7's. Hit 3 balls in hazards and was really out of our friendly match on those holes, so I picked up to hurry us on. Had a good partner though, who halved all three holes and we won the back and the match.

Had rounds of 72 & 78 on the weekend.

72 on my home course with freshly aerated greens.

78 on a difficult resort course on the Gold Coast off the back tees. Had 40 on the front and wasn't playing all that well then came out firing on the back 9. Was -1 for the nine after 5 holes then threw in a double on a Par 5 for a 38...  ugh!!

Rain soaked and cold here in South Central PA. I was the only crazy person on the course today. Shot the best 82 of my entire life. The greens were an absolute mess so putting hurt me. Hit 13 GIR. Never hit it better off the tee or straighter with my irons. Due to the wet course my distance really struggled so probably the only reason I wasn't in the 70s, but I couldn't be more pleased. Haven't played in over 2 months.

A winter game -1 Celsius = 30.2 Fahrenheit, pretty cold but a glorious day :)

Apart from a blunder on the sixth, where I didn't factor in how the cold weather effects the distance and hit it 10 yards to short and into the water.

A great weekend in Majorca, we come for this Bank holiday, and with this weather I have improve my game, 79 shots not bad for my handicap +7 We are staying at the Barcelo Pueblo, and tomorrow we are going to the Son Antem west, today was in Maioris. We have booked with holidaysinone.com, and yesterday transfer from the Airport to the hotel was on time on a very clean van.

    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
