What'd You Shoot Today?

Recommended Posts

I shot 103 at Holiday Park yesterday. Long and tough course so was happy with three pars. Two inches on the ninth hole from a birdie. Three snow cones. Ready for WIldwood Golf Course!

Played a par three course early this morning which is a very tough little course. My pitching and putting was great this morning. Some of the fairways slope to one side or the other. The greens are fast and have slopes. There has only been one par round recorded on this course in it's eight year history.

I played my best round ever on this course today by shooting a 33. I parred 5 holes. There were two holes which I 3 putted, which really isn't bad because of how tough it is to play these greens. Oh, I almost forgot to give the name of the course. It's Gothic Hill Golf Course in Niagara County, NY

My very first post on the forum... so hello!

Wasn't today but shot a 92 around my local course Rickmansworth, in Herts, UK the other day with some bargain (if a little rushed) twilight golf.

It's a short, ridiculously hilly and tight Harry Colt par 65, where every green has 4 bloody tiers and the only time the ball is level with your feet is on the tee! A cracking little challenge if you're ever in the area.

Played pretty well bar 4 holes, which cost me a 9, two 8's and a 7, so 32 shots for 4 holes! When I go bad, I go REALLY bad! Was working it out when I got home and had 1 birdie, 4 pars and 4 bogies, so for half of the round I was only 3 over. The other 9 (not that I did these in order, it was good following bad) I was 24 over!!!

The story of my golf game, pretty good player but more than capable of going "all in" off the deep end.

90 today...45/45   1 birdie, 3 pars, 9 bogies and 5 doubles. On my home course...69.9/121

Shot an 88 today....really feel good about it to....Last few rounds have been 106, 103, 101, 97, 94, and then today's 88,  However, been going through some health things and today was first time in 3 months that I played pain free...

82 last night with 3 3 putts and a damn triple on 18. Pretty much blew up every hole on the back, even the ones I scabbed a par out of were ugly. I was really tired and wet because it rained heavy. Made the mistake of playing the back with ladies league still out there. Probably would have been better staying on the front twice. Played the front in 50 minutes, the back took 2 hours.

I had three equally great shots today when I pitched the ball to within 2-3 feet of the cup on three separate holes form a distance of about 50 to 60 feet off the greens. Good enough to one putt each of those three holes for pars. My short game works really good when I keep my head down. I keep my head down so long that I don't even see the flight of the ball but only hear it when the ball lands on the green. That's when I look up and I have been enjoying the results.

I shot a 91 on a par 72  70.2/121 course. Totally a tale of two swings. First 5 holes I didn't realize I was letting my right arm get separated from my body too much and was 11 over, from the 6th hole on I was 8 over. Went from 50 on the first 9 to a 41 on the second.

Sept. 1/15 - Went out for a relaxing nine holes by myself.  As luck should happen, I was having a good round making some decent shots.  I ended with a birdie on number nine to post a score of 39 - my first score under 40 in a number of years and one of my objectives for this current season!

Since starting this summer, my best 9-hole round was +9, and for some reason everything clicked tonight and improved to a +5. It was also the first time I tee'd up every hole I played that was Par3, as I usually found I disliked tees on par3 when I tried a few months ago when starting.

42 and a total WTF 9 holes last night. 18 mph wind, enough rain to be annoying, and every bad lie imaginable, eventually started taking pics of where the ball ended up because it was just bizarre. I always tell myself ignore the wind and stay in the game but this was just dumb. Won't bore with every detail but to paint a picture of the wind this is the kind of thing that happened. I hit the flag with a rangefinder on a hole I almost always par, I was just 107 out. I tried to flight a PW in there choked all the way down to the steel and it traveled 157 yards. Actually further than that, where I tagged the next shot with Game Golf was 157, over the green and next to a ditch that's not even marked a hazard it's so far out of play.

Check this out. This was an every other hole occurrence. Bad angle because to show how crappy that was, I was getting ready to address the ball so had to pick it out between the track ridges, club moving across the track not in the direction of, probably the best shot I've hit all year. Unbelievably I made par on that hole playing my third shot from there on a par 4, landed about 5 feet from the hole with a 20 or so yard pitch.

Not today but a few weeks ago (day after my birthday) was in a team of 3 total Stableford comp and I shot 71 (-1) to match the amateur course record. Course is a par 72 and plays 7100 yards off the tips. SSS is 73. Needless to say I didn't get cut as it wasn't a qualifying competition!! I also shot +2 a week later. I was 7 over after 13 holes and Birdied the last 5 in a row (first time I've ever birdied 5 in a row). Just goes to show that anything can happen and you should never let a bad hole dwell on you! Or a few holes in my case...

Wednesday at Celebration course here in Florida played 9 holes, par 36...shot 38. Pretty solid for me as I hit 6 of 7 fws and missed 2 birdie putts under 6 ft. 2 bogeys, 7 pars. Played the gold tees which is next after tips.

I played 9 and shot 3 over. Par 34. Good round but I was one over through 8 and hit the perfect hybrid off the tee but the high wind held it up into a fairway bunker. Doubled 9....terrible end after the best round I ever had going.

    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
    • I don't think the viewer at home can pick up on pace of play, unless the announcers mention something. The telecast has the luxury of bouncing from player to player, which ensures we the viewer always have something to watch.  I think we would notice pace of play if the camera just followed one golfer for an entire round. Or  You were actually golfing behind the slow group Or  The slow group is the last to only group left to finish the tournament.  I like the idea of having a person carrying a digital clock, following each golfer. When the golfer gets to the ball and the group in front of them has cleared they have 60 seconds or they get a penalty stroke. Maybe a second violation is a 2 stroke penalty.  Or as I have said before, every golfer wears a shock collar!!!!! at 1 min 1 second that golfer if going to drop. It will take them a good 30 second to recover, leaving them with another 30 seconds to hit the shot. The course would be littered with golfers just convulsing on fair way from an endless cycle of shocks because they cant seem to hit their ball and keep pace of play.
    • This isn't the same thing.  This is entirely a time of year thing. Not a trend.  This is the COVID year.  There are many who think the Masters viewership was actually way up. The 2024 ratings being down is only for CBS televisions. It doesn't include anyone (including me) who watched it online.
