39-38 77

However, even though it was a par 72 course, it has two par 5's under 400 yds. and two par 4's under 230 yds.  Really it's a par 68 course.  Because of that, when I entered the score in the Golf Digest Handicap, my handicap went from 10.9 to 11.2 even though it was my best score of the season.

I wouldn't normally play this course, but it's the only course I could find open.

38 degrees F. when I left home and 42 degrees F. when I got back home.  Started with little wind, but it picked up quite a bit by the second nine.

Last Round:  Ouch... a rough one. +12 through 11 holes - two doubles and two triples in that stretch!!!!!  Sometimes, I have no idea how it happens like that!

Shot 85 = 46 - 39

On the bright side -  I also had 3 birdies and played the last 8 holes at +1 (finished birdie, birdie on 17-18)  wooo!

A had to put the game face on in the back nine when a guy in our group started ribbing me that he was going to beat me on my home course, I guess it made me focus a little more.

Helps you appreciate the good days!!!!

Golf is just tough sometimes. Shot a 95.

Unimpressive round. My swing just felt rigid until the 14th hole, even had trouble with chipping. It was like I had never held a club, and just had all my paths and techniques mixed up.

Still managed to hit some good shots on auto-pilot, kinda wish I could just learn to play golf "without a thought."

I played 7 holes yesterday, first time out since mid October. I didn't score horrible or anything just couldn't deal with the discomfort. I have a few nagging injuries that probably will keep me off the course until 2016.

It was evident I am not 100%. Despite being able to score everything was whacked, ball flight was low, felt I lacked speed, my shots were shorter than usual etc. Course was still in good condition, they didn't aerate this fall so bummed I am done for a while.

Played 9 holes today before the storm arrived in southern England - gross 45, 18 stableford points. Putting quite poor but whole thing beats a day in the office. Good luck all…!

First truly rainy, windy, winter day in my golf career. Popular course on a Saturday, and we were the only idiots out there; literally not another vehicle in the parking lot. Was a blast though, the wind just makes it like a brawl out there.

Shot a 46 on the front. My hat blew off once and flew further than most of my drives. Driver was bad as usual lately, but made a handful of 1 putts to save par which was nice. Beautiful course, but we ended up retiring after the 16th hole.

Just a +1 to golf for me, and so glad I found this sport.

48-47 for a 95 on Saturday.  Driver was humming deep and straight and now I'm at the point where I'm surprised when I hit a slice rather than expecting it.

However there's always something to bring you back to earth and on this day it was short irons.  I've been playing around with my grip and got the face way too open.  This combined with getting too wristy meant I had three or four which squirted low and right, ruining approaches from good positions.

I'm not a long hitter - gotta spend some time on the launch monitor but at a guess I'd say a 220 carry.  With this in mind I've embraced the layup which so far (hosel rockets aside) has yielded better scores than trying to cane a 3W and usually ending up in a greenside bunker, or worse.  Good news is they've finally trimmed the rough so it's no longer ankle high.  Always good to finish with the same ball you started with!

Shot 80 SGCC Blue Tees

39-41-80

One double bogey, one birdie.

46 for high and a little windy, hit the ball better than the score, but getting to play in November is great.

31 Stableford points yesterday - well below my handicap but a great day out and it looked like a painting. Almost winter golf now in southern England - more days like this over the winter, hopefully…

45 out

38 back

Front nine didnt feel all that bad to be honest. Nothing terribly bad (apart from a double bogey on a par 3), solid bogey golf. However the back 9 was a completely different kettle of fish! 5 pars, 2 bogeys and a solitary double bogey all topped off with a birdie on the 18th after driving nearly 280 yards leaving a 100 pitch to the pin!

Best thing was no lost balls and no 3 putts!!! It was one of those days when I felt I couldn't miss with the putter! :)

Perhaps the best shot of the day was on the par 4 11th hole when I put my drive in to a bunker leaving myself 100 yards to the pin. The ball was pretty close to the step bank but the connection was pure with my 54 degree wedge with the ball pitching near the hole and leaving me a 10 foot birdie putt (which I missed but will take a par any day!).

Raining wet and cold, par 72 、6,693 yards back tee.

Just about every tee shot on the front nine out of bounds, only the par 3's were not. Just could not get into the rythum. But, the back I shot my best ever round, I could do no wrong except a 3 put on of all the holes , the 18th. Nerves got me I think.

Front nine 53, 7 out of bounds

Back nine 34, 3 birdies, 5 pars , 1 bogey

Total 87,

43 out (1 triple, 1 double, 2 bogey, 5 pars 7x 2 putt, 2x1 putt)
42 in (3 doubles, 1 bogey, 5 pars, 5x 2 putts, 3x1 putt)

Total 85 in bloody cold, damp and windy conditions!

The big problem Im having is hitting FIR and GIRs! Hit 4/14 fairways and 4 GIR's and only pretty good putting saved the other 5 holes that I pared today.

But that brings me on to what is going well! This is the second round in a row with no three putts. In fact the last three putt I had is now 45 holes ago :)

42 - 41 = 83

Didn't play well.  I didn't really make any putts outside of 10 feet to save strokes.  Missed a few from 6 -8 feet.  Lost a ball right into a hazard on #2 and ended up with a double.  40 yards out and completely botched my approach hitting off wet turf... TWICE!

Score could have been a lot worse but overall it was a plod along catch some bad breaks boring round.  I had fun with the group I was with though but my golf wasn't that fun.

Beautiful day, horrible golf.  I was glad I was by myself.

One of those rounds the golfing gods give you every now and then to make sure you're not getting any kind of an ego.  I hit fat, I dug holes with my irons, skied my driver three times, left chips 20 feet short, topped a 6i, lipped out five times, went in every bunker I could see (and some I didn't see) and just generally sucked.  Lost four balls, broke my 5i and had passed 100 by 15.

I topped it all off by skying a drive and losing it in the sun.  The ball landed 100 yards forward and left, plopping softly on a green where another group were putting.  That was one of the more embarrassing walks of my golfing career.

39 on the front nine - first time I've broken 40 for nine holes since getting back into golf this year and it was my target for the year when I started up again so I was pretty pleased.

I hit 6 GIR + 2 putts on the par 4s and one par 3 and bogeys on the 2 par 5s and the other par 3.  Part of me feels like maybe I left some shots out there but I'm sure reality will bite next time out.

It is probably just coincidence but since I started using the Callaway Chrome Soft a few weeks ago my approach shots seem to be much more under control and my putting distance is better dialed in.  I spent a lot of the summer on the range and have only played about 180 holes and most of them recently - I think actually getting on the course and learning how to score has been a big benefit (which is probably obvious!)
