I got our tee times for my visit to Palm springs, and I wanted to send this around to the TSTers who might want to join us.  As I said earlier, we have six golfers, so we're likely to have two openings for each day.  Here's our schedule:

  Sunday, Jan 17     -         Indian Springs Golf Club .....   Rate is $89.00  (Includes lunch) (9:37 & 9:45)

Monday is booked up, I extended an invitation to a couple of Newport Cup guys first.

Tuesday,  Jan. 19 -          Classic Golf Club .............      Rate is  $139.00  (9:10 & 9:20)

  Wednesday, Jan. 20 -      Silver Rock .....................       Rate is  $170.00   (9:08 & 9:15)

  Thursday, Jan. 21 -          Desert Willow ................        Rate is  $120.00   (9:05 & 9:15 )

If any of y'all would like to join us, please let me know.

Both courses at Desert Willow are really nice.  The Firecliff course is a very tough track.  Mountain View was a little easier, but still challenging.  Have fun.

Yeah, we played both of them last year, I think I remember liking the Firecliff Course better, but both were fun to play.  I'll just be happy to have temperatures above freezing!

We go out every year.  Heading out the first week of Feb.  This year we are playing  Desert Willow (Firecliff), Eagle Falls, Classic Club, and Escena.  There are soooo many great courses in Palm Springs.  Conditioning is usually great on all of them.

Well sometimes a blizzard is a good thing. It looks like we'll be staying a few extra days, heading home Tuesday morning. So we get to play more golf, today at shadow ridge, tomorrow at westin mission hills dye course,  Sunday at Marriott desert springs. Not sure about Monday yet, but we'll find something.

We finally did make it home to Virginia on Tuesday, to find everything covered by a foot of snow or more.  I kept some notes each day on the courses, and I'll try to weed through that stuff and post some summaries over the weekend.  I'm certain to have some time, there's no golf to be played.  Thanks again to everyone who provided advice.  Thanks also to @Golfingdad, @tristanhilton85, and @mvmac for coming out to join my friends and I for a round or two.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on Desert Springs.  We've stayed there a few times when visiting the desert (and its a great hotel/spa) but never played the course(s).

We played the other course (I think its the Valley) at Desert Springs last year, this year we played the Palms.  I liked both.  They're more forgiving than many, since there's very little "desert", but they both have some nice terrain.  The Palm was in pretty nice shape, rolling greens, water hazards on a reasonable number of holes, comfortably fast greens.  I thought the price was reasonable considering we must be in the high season, around $90.

Yeah, they would both comfortably fit into the "oasis" type definition if there were a such thing, right?:-P

    • Yes, you can move clubs into the "unassigned" bin, but it won't let you delete a club that has been used, so everything added to the "my bag" stays there. The system used to let you delete a club but would give a disclaimer message saying something like deleting this club will also delete all of the data associated with it. What is annoying about this is that in post-round editing, all of the clubs, assigned or not come up in editor. So if a shot was registered with the wrong club, it's not intuitive to pick from the list which is color coded rather than providing a description. This is rare - it would happen in cases where you put a new club in the bag but didn't update the "my bag" section so shots were registered on the old club. Or possibly a scenario where you took some practice swings with a 8-iron and it registered a shot, but then you actually hit the shot with a 9-iron. For example, below, this is what I see if I wanted to change the driver I used for this tee shot:
    • I'm definitely taking relief from something that only exists in that location to mark off yardage
    • That is the course we staid on when we did our golf trip to Orlando like 8 years ago. I really like that course. Fair, but you really have to figure out how to play it due to the amount of bunkers on the course.
    • Heard good things and considered it but we had to skip that one this trip 😕
