How good is your golf instructor?

Can you be a bit more specific? Are we talking about our golf instructor or the pro at our local club?

Local "pro" dismissed my request for help with the driver: "don't even bother...." (until I fixed something else)

That was so negative I said I'd never take a lesson from him.

Other guys try and change 3 things at once until I can no longer hit the ball.

Still looking for a good one.

I've only ever had in-person instruction from @iacas and @david_wedzik.

They are pretty damn good.

My  Pro's have done everything from give me lessons, to club mods to drinks. They make a tremendous impact in my love for the game and my eagerness to learn and improve.

Me too!  So I would rate them a 10 then!  Same goes for @mvmac and @sk golf my current Evolvr instructor.

I've never taken a lesson from any of them, but our head pro and his two assistants are friendly and professional, stock the pro shop with good looking golf clothes, run our tournaments efficiently, do a really nice job with the juniors program, etc.  I checked 7-8, the only thing that could raise my rating is to actually take a lesson or two and improve my game.

My swing guru is not pro. That meaning he does not get paid to instruct me. So, I voted him a "1-2" , since "0" was not a choice .

He does know my swing, and problem areas. We are always on the same page, and he is always available when I need him. We have been together for quite a while, through the good and the bad. I comepletely trust him.

He is me.

I've seen nothing but improvement in my game. @iacas, is one of the best instructors I've had. The fact I drive from Dayton to Erie, PA instead of finding someone more local speaks how much I value his instruction.

I'm looking forward to making that trip from Cinci in February. At this point in my game, I haven't had an in-person lesson, but Evolvr swing coach has been excellent.

Here are my golf instructors: Jim Mrva, Head Professional at Monroe CC in Rochester, NY, Gary Player ( I have the book with 395 cartoon lessons), Ben Hogan, Harry Vardon, Bobby Jones (I have the complete collection of his short movies with W.C. Fields, etc.), Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, Jimmy Ballard ( "stay connected", Greg Norman, More Norman, Lee Trevino,Payne (including his tape on course etiquette), and Al Geiberger (Sybervision tape). Collectively, I rate them a 10!

Jim's a good guy. I taught him AimPoint and he always remembers my name.

The rest are not your instructors. Reading something someone wrote does not make them your instructor.

Ed Oldham Ranch Country Club CO was my instructor I thought he was good. Often named by Golf Digest as the top instructor in CO. Will be shopping for a new instructor soon.
