DeChambeau & the Hat

Maybe it's just me, but I watched DeChambeau at the NCAA championships and found myself constantly annoyed by him. Now he's resurfacing. I'm sure 90% of it was the hat. Maybe his swing. I'd be curious to get peoples feedback on the like-ability of this guy...

well the family names sound of a francophone origin so the beret is appropriate and probably a personal touch.

I voted for 1, but I'm not gonna call you a jealous 18 handicapper.  The hat doesn't bother me so much.  Now, as for the above pic and the seemingly smug look on his face...

He does his own thing with his golf philosophy so the hat fits him.

I like that he's brainy and contrarian, but he's not on tour yet. Judging by his quotes in a recent press conference, which I haven't seen, so disclaimer, he shouldn't get ahead of himself, despite how bright his future looks. Don't have an opinion on his personality, but rooting for him mainly because of his swing.

You've gotta admit, it's pretty much a douche-bag hat. Only other professional golfer who wore one in the modern era was Payne Stewart, by most accounts a grade A douche-bag.

To be honest, I'm going to be somewhere between a 7 and a 10...That hat screams douchery. It bothers me because I'm a shallow and hateful man.

BTW I saw a guy at the FREAKING GYM the other day wearing a hat like that.

Pro golfers don't wear them because you can't put a big logo on the front to pay the bills.(pun intended)

Personally, I am not big on style affectations like the 'old school' hat, Rickie's 'hip' trucker hat, Patrick Reed's Tiger imitation, or Payne Stewart's plus knickerbockers.

What they wear doesn't distracts me from the quality of their golf or make me dislike them, though.

 

@colin007 re. the hat at the gym. Give a guy a break, I'm very self-conscious about my bald spot. Kudos for 'owning' your shallow hatefulness.

He's only a physics major. They teach physics in high school! 

It doesn't bother me. The guys who don't wear hats because they still have all their hair bother me!
