Played a course in Playa del Carmen, MX a few months ago that had a cart hombre. Middle aged guy, he did pretty well tip wise. Everything on the cart was free, booze, soft drinks, sandwiches.

When I lived in North Jersey there was a hot dog truck where the owner would wear a bikini during lunches. Hot dogs, nothing special but her business was great.. Just saying a little harmless flirting goes a long way.

I tip the same regardless of gender, age or hotness.

On the rare occasion I utilize their services, so do I. It was just a memorable thing because I had never seen a male perform that role before or since.

And he did look disappointed, but not on my account.

I had a cart girl last season who was certainly not attractive, but impressed me more than any other when she asked to borrow my Driver and proceeded to PURE a drive right down the center.  Obviously she played college somewhere and we all walked away impressed.  I can't remember but I hope I tipped her well, she earned it.

Its interesting at our small private club.  The girls who run the beverage cart are the same girls who might serve you (and your wife) dinner or pour your drinks in the tavern.  We get to know anyone who sticks around for more than a few weeks, which lowers the flirtation level significantly.  I know 4 guys, away from home, knowing they'll never see the bev-cart girl again, can act like complete buffoons.  But if I'm going to see her every weekend, all summer, maybe for a few summers, I'm going to treat her with respect and consideration, and I'll get in the face of any member (or guest) who treats her badly.

And lest any of our female members here at TST see my use of "girls" as disrespectful, please excuse me.  Since I'm at least 30 years older than any of them, they all look like girls to me, but they all deserve and get my respect.

I've only seen cart girls in the States but I loved the concept, they were always up for a bit of banter as well as serving you drinks.

Me too, and then only on organised "golf days", usually in conjunction with a conference or something. In Europe, most courses don't even have a half-way house - you have to cart your drinks and food around in your bag. In Thailand (where Scotsclaff lives and plays, too), they often have rest areas every 3-5 holes where you can buy drinks, (sometimes warm) food and - interestingly - packs of 6-8 used lake balls, normally sorted by manufacturer. Given the number of water hazards on most courses there, this comes in very handy ...

They drive the beverage cart around and serve you beverages. Or snacks.

Some courses try to employ "hot" ones the same way some restaurants try to have attractive servers.

My friend runs a golf club in the UK, and he sussed out that most men were bringing their own beer with them. During the summer months he now has someone selling it from a cart.

Odyssey putter, 20 Bridgestone e6 balls, 2 water balls for the 5th hole, loads of tees, 2 golf gloves, a couple of hand warmers, cleaning towel, 5 ball markers, 2 pitch mark repairers, some aspirin, 3 hats, set of waterproofs, an umbrella, a pair of gaiters, 2 pairs of glasses. Christ, it's amazing I can pick the bloody thing up !!

Well said. I would add I take this approach with everyone I meet for the first time. Pay respect forward.

Even the Old Course at St Andrews has a small cart selling refreshments at the end of the 9th hole!

Yeah, but it's not open all that often IIRC. You can't even find much on Google about it.

I just tried to google it too, and didn't find anything.  I just remember it being there, back near the toilets.  One of my buddies required a beer to be able to continue!  I stopped every morning to get a bacon roll to take to the course, and carried a bottle of water.

    • Day 292 - Filmed some swings focusing on the same thing (setup, grip, wrist at the top).
    • Day 182 (31 Oct 24) - Shorter session today.  Worked with the 5i - setup, alignment and overall tempo - hitting into the net.
    • Thanks! It actually briefly dropped to 5.8 at some point in July, but it felt like it was too rich for my blood every moment of the whole two weeks I held the 'level' for me to sustain it. The term 'impostor syndrome' comes to mind.. :-)) I have certainly done better than I have in the previous years to stay the course in how and what I have practiced but yes, it's a high probability that I'm leaving a lot on the table.
    • Dang... in the realm of things that probably don't matter all that much, golf slumps are the worst. Yes definitely consult a pro ASAP. Get back to hitting it solid again. Hitting the sweet spot solves a lot of problems. For me it's always the latter. My confidence grows as I hit more and more solid shots, which are the result of continuing to improve my swing thru better concepts, better practice, etc.  Yea, this for sure. And also, without a professional there to let you know you "did it better this time" it can be unnecessarily frustrating and confounding working alone. It's not that you can't work alone; clearly, you can. But during rough patches, it's always smart to consult professionals. Lessons are an amazing place to take new concepts and turn them into feels that you are confident will work. It's still really cool you consider this your best ever season. Congrats on hitting 7.8 this year!
