Inspired by this post at Golf Digest, please post your "golf truths."

I'll give you one example.

"You don't make a putt all day, and yet when on the 18th you just walk by and stab at the ten-footer you have left for double, it goes in."

Or…

"The beverage cart girl always comes when you're on the other side of the fairway… and never comes when you're most in need of a drink."

"You duff a chip. You regroup and duff another. You get pissed, you don't care and you chip in the next shot for bogey"

"You just made a birdie. You proceed to hit your next tee shot OB. You just have been hit with the PBFU, post birdie f*** up."

The more strokes you take to reach the green, the easier that putt is going to be.  You could probably make a 100 footer for 12 but you can't drop a 5 footer for birdie.

Being allowed to play through as a single virtually guarantees that you top your drive about 100 yards.

EDIT: I should have read the article FIRST...just realized this is on there.  I'm a dumbass.

On the hole with a 60 yard wide fairway and no bunkers you stripe your drive straight down the center, but on the hole with water on the right and deep fairway bunkers on the left, you couldn't hit the fairway if they gave you 4 mulligans.

The beverage cart always shows up as you are leaving the 18th tee - or as you arrive at #10 after just having stopped in the snack bar.

"You just blasted your last 10 range balls 250+ with perfect baby draw shots down the middle; then you proceed to the first tee knowing exactly what's going to happen!  Yup, you heel it 5 feet to the left under that damn palm tree"

"You're playing with your dad and have a short wedge into the green from a perfect position on the fairway after a great tee shot.  The beverage cart stops and the girl (very cute I might add) asks you if you'd like anything.  Trying to impress you father and this beverage cart girl with a 'Mickelson-like' flop shot, you make a wager that he'll buy you a beer if you stick it within 10 feet.  With all the confidence in the world, you make a swing......chunks fly.....the ball moves 10 feet.....and the rest is history"

The golf truth: you get distracted by everything and everyone around you and make a wager you shouldn't be making.

OR You've been hitting the center of the fairway all day even on holes with water left and right and bunkers everywhere, but you come to a hole that has a 60yd wide fairway with OB way right and you slice the ball out.

No matter how bad your original shot was, the provisional ball will always be perfect

Corollary: the better the provisional ball, the greater the probability of finding the original ball.

In an enormous bunker, there will be only one rake ... located the furthest distance possible from where your ball lays.

In an enormous bunker, if someone fails to rake their large foot prints, that is the exact spot your ball will land.

Cart paths are always canted toward the forest or water.

Put a new ball into play and you will hit a cart path within a hole.  Put a new Pro V1 into play and you will hit the cart path twice.  Pinnacles never hit cart paths.

It was on the GD list but its worth repeating.

A good range session means nothing for tomorrow's game. It should actually serve as a warning
