Easy answer to the thread. Don't care how hot or cold it is, when the first rain drop falls, I am going back to the club house. Golf is meant to be enjoyed, and you can't do it when your getting wet !!

Matt,

When we played... It rained, sleeted, snowed, was cold and windy. My rule is generally under 30 degrees, imminent thunderstorms, or steady downpours... If I can find a window to play Golf... I will... I played 18 holes in an hour and 50 minutes yesterday because everyone must have seen chance of p.m. thunderstorms.

Shane

Yeah, that Sunday was a bit raw.  I didn't expect it to be quite so windy!

Rain- if the forecast is for steady rain of any sort I'm out, especially if I can play the next day in the sun, but I will play in warmer weather with on/off showers if that's my only chance that week, cooler weather I'm out with even the slightest drizzle.

Temperature- in the spring it's 50's only, and even low 50's can chase me, the wind chills are just too nasty at that time of year, but in the fall I can handle 40's often because the wind chill is not so bad.

Basically I like it fairly nice out to play golf, otherwise I'll be at the range waiting.

I won't go out if it's colder than 45* or if it's raining.

1) when it is cold. Now this has several criteria. If it is in the 53-55 and calm I can handle it. If there is a breeze blowing, that gets cold. If it's drizzling and in the mid-50s I'm not going out. If it's in the upper 50s and windy I'm not going out. If it's =< 50 degrees, forget it.

2) when it is raining. I'm not talking about a few sprinkles. I'm talking about rain.

Anything over 60 degrees I'll play unless it's raining or if the wind is over 20 mph.

How bad is too bad? Well that all depends on what you can take weather wise and your location (open, wooded, city, rural ect) up here in Maine we have Late March through late October-early November so about 5-6 full month's of golfing weather, but personally I don't start playing till the first week in April and my last round is usually mid October, if it's Below 40 I won't golf, anything above that I'm game, wind is meh I've hit into 20MPH wind before and granted I have had to put more behind my swings but I personally think that's when skill really matters as making par is difficult when your hitting uphill and into the wind.

Rain doesn't bother me so long as it's not pouring, and when it comes to thunderstorms, it's a matter of common sense, I'm not one of the people out there on an elevated green sticking my putter into the air....!

The only weather that will stop me is thunderstorms, heavy rain actively pounding down or if the radar shows it to be imminent, and temps below 40.  So I'm curious, at what point  do you say "I'm not playing in that."

I won't play when it's above 85 and the humidity level is high. I also won't play in the rain or when the wind is excessively high. I wont play in weather below 50 degrees unless there is no wind, and then I'm good down to 45 degrees without any wind. Today was a good golfing day - 80 degrees with only 35% humidity and 6 MPH winds

The only weather that's going to keep me off the course is lightening.  I work all week and my only chance of getting to the course is on the weekend.  If the weather isn't ideal (windy, raining, etc.) that's fine with me because I know the course won't be as crowded.  This past Saturday they were calling for rain all morning and cloudy that afternoon.  My buddy and I set up a tee time for 1:30 pm, the sun came out at 1:15pm, and we had the entire course wide open.  We caught one group on hole 12, but they dropped off after that hole and we didn't see anyone else until we got back to the clubhouse.

As long as the course is open, I'm good to go. When I was playing a lot in the 90s in western Oregon, I had knee-high boots with golf spikes. Most of last Saturday's club tournament was in the rain.

No such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.

I'll play in pretty much anything. Cold rain (under 45 degrees and raining) might chase me. Lightning anywhere nearby will chase me as well. Beyond that, if the course is open, I'll play.

Now, it's not the best idea to play in 35 degrees and wind, or 32 degrees and snow flurries. But when it's January or February and you haven't been out on the course in a month, that doesn't matter so much.

For those of us who reside in the desert southwest, I don't think I'd get much opposition if I were to say pesonally anytime it's above 112*. Summer rates are here now in phoenix finally since the snowbirds have been slowly vacating. $85 -$100+ green fees will be close to or below $40 on many premier courses, but, 112* is definitely where I draw the line.

I'm similar to you @krupa. I would venture into the 30s if it was not windy. I will not play with lightning around, but light rain and drizzle are ok.

Teed off at 12:30. Nice sunny 70 degrees.

Light rain at tee on #7. Approach medium rain, green rain heavy enough to take cover. 10 minutes later scramble to real cover under hail.

Thunder, lightning, heavy hail for an hour.

Sunshine reveals not only fairways covered but also greens under an inch of hail.

Pick up and head to clubhouse for "Rain Check".

Try again tomorrow.

Thank God we had the good sense to hide not under a tree, but in more substantial cover (tunnel under roadway).

I'm looking forward to seeing your course in good weather, as nice as it was in the poor weather we had I can't imagine how nice it is now. Same for @jsgolfer, though I hope to have my golf game in much better shape before then.

Our course is getting into great shape right now.  Much better than it was when we played in the arctic conditions.  :~(

Its the same at Stoneleigh, recovered from aerification, and the rough just loved all the rain.  Member-Guest is next weekend, fairways will be important.

I live on the Canadian border and the temperature here got up to 88 yesterday with quite a bit of humidity. Today is going to be 90 with more humidity. The only way I'll play on these days is to tee off at 7:00 AM before it gets too hot and play nine
