I'm curious at how many courses TST Community have played that give out free towels when they play?

My course gives out free towels for use on the course, but sometimes they are all used up.  We trade them for clean ones every Thursday, so if it rains a lot, we may not have towels to give.  I have seen people get really pissed when we run out.  I mean, they didn't come to golf here just for a free towel right? I mean it's a nice perk when available, but I don't think they should expect it every time.  You should come to a course prepared, especially if rain is in the forecast.

I have only seen my course give out towels, though.

My home course provides towels in the carts, one per golfer.  I always have multiple towels hanging off my bag so it's not a big problem when they run out but it is nice to have a towel you can use and not have to worry about washing yourself.

Most of the courses I play have the towel thing, but all of them only have towels for golfers who use one of their carts.

Public courses?  None that I can think of.  A towel in the cart and/or available for players seems to be the province of private clubs in SE Michigan.

A couple of the nicer courses I play have provided towels. Maderas was the last one and several in Mexico

Towels in carts, quite a few.

BTW, I hope people aren't taking those "free" towels home.  That's not the intent!

Mt. Washington course puts a towel to use in the carts at times. I don't think it is all the time, just rainy days.

Many private and a few of the top end public or semi-private courses provide towels in North Jersey/PA/NY area.

I've seen it and I typically do t use the towels. Usually well worn towels rolled up in the cart. Never considered them free just part of the cart stuff like ball washer, GPS, fresh pencil etc.

Not technically free, but Ive seen a few courses that have towels for use by players. Some even have cold ones in out on the course in coolers. That was f'king beautiful.

    • My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.
    • I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
