Las Vegas could have had a better team on paper but instead made friendly picks to get draft picks

As I understand it, they have no farm system, so this was the only way they were going to acquire additional picks to build one quickly. They weren't going to win the Stanley Cup next year had they chosen the best 30 players available without making any side deals anyway and they were guaranteed to be able to draft 30 players, so why not get 30 players and a bag full of draft picks?

I'm not saying I agree with all his moves, either. Just trying to offer a different perspective.

  I'm kind of scared to see what kind of contract McDavid will get July 1st.  I'm hearing it could be more than 13 million a season.
