This makes me wonder if being active on Twitter is a condition of employment for Chamblee, since if he doesn't really like it he could just stay away!

There's a local afternoon drive radio host who explained that station management wanted him to be active on Twitter, although he would be subject to suspensions and other punishment if he said the wrong thing. He asked them for some concrete examples, and when they couldn't come up with any he told them to stick Twitter where the sun don't shine!

As for me I'm with Bill Belichick. I don't do "SnapFace" or "InstaChat". Nor do I Twit! This is as close as I care to get to that sort of thing.

Has anyone ever tweeted Brandel on why he didn't last that long on tour?

Believe it or not he played full-time for like 14 or 15 years on Tour and 1 year on Web.com, which is probably more than people realize.

Yesterday Arian Foster blew up Twitter about how he could beat up a wolf, so yeah, Twitter can ban Twitter as far as I'm concerned.

Of course Brandel would like twitter banned, why would he like people to have the opportunity to have a rebuttal to some of his absurd claims?

On another note it seems extremely stupid given this constant push to grow the game. Taking away direct contact to players from fans or being able for fans to see exchanges between players keeps/gets some people interested.

This sounds like something from an episode of Archer, but you're saying a real human boasted about beating up a wolf?  Goddammit people, get a hobby!  But not wolf-punching... that sounds cruel... until the wolf gets its turn.

Agreed...wolf punching is not a good hobby.  Foster is a former NFL running back, and extremely confident he can take a wolf in a one-on-one fight:

It was apparently like a 4 hour rant.  Heard about it on the radio this morning.  Many more of his posts here:

Say no more.

As for Chamblee, Twitter was never meant to be a platform for discussion.  It was originally a platform for announcement.   The original developers wrote it while they were working on a different software application and wanted to let people know when they were working on different components.  If anyone had any useful info/knowledge about that component, they could then share it.

If you want a discussion, especially a civilized discussion, your best bet is face to face.  Anything else and you're taking your chances.

You surely don't mean understanding the correct laws of ball flight is a requirement for writing about the anatomy of golf greatness, do you?? :-O....:-P

My only question is this:

How exactly does he think golf will ban Twitter?

I'm now thinking about a dystopian future where all golfers are searched at the entrance to courses for smartphones with Twitter installed or in the browser history. Ordering golf clubs requires a background check to ensure you've never registered an account. If you mention golf on twitter, it alerts the USGA who hunts you down and deletes your account before destroying your computer and phone Fahrenheit 451 style. Algorithms are created to track what people on Twitter post about and give probabilities that this person is a golfer. "High risk" tweeters are placed on watch lists and monitored around the clock to ensure they don't golf as well as use Twitter. If evidence of golf use is found, covert operations teams swoop in to destroy the illicit clubs.

When using your phone, you have to use the emoticon selector at the top of the edit screen (just above the text edit box your are in) and not the emoticons from the phone.

This occurred to me earlier today, and you kind of beat me to it. There are some aspects of player conduct that "golf", meaning the Tour, can regulate. But for the most part professional Tour players are still independent contractors. If they have enough status the can play pretty much when and where they want. How could the Tour stop them from Tweeting, Facebooking, or anything else unless they were posting things that are lewd and/or illegal!

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
