Avoided making a 6 my previous two rounds. Didn't do it today but still shot 69 ;-) Hit it OB on a par 5 and made double, only over par hole of the day.

Heh. I was fortunate in one of my no-sixes rounds (before the challenge) when I hit a ball OB to get up and down from 230 to save a par on a par five once… :-D Definitely can't count on THAT very often!

Nice playing. Round posted in GG?

Almost got it yesterday.  16/18 holes were 5 or better, including every par-4 (there were 12 par-4s at the course I played, and did so at a cumulative 4 over par, nothing worse than bogey).  I also parred two of the par-5s (there were three;  sadly, a water ball and two shots in a bunker led to an 8 on the other) and made a disaster of the last two par-3s (5, 7;  that 7 was a classic Shindig disaster hole).  There was also a double-bogey from a bad tee shot on a par-3 thrown in there (badly hooked 5-wood)... but otherwise had 9 GIR and 6 near-GIR.

Just the same, I'm now convinced I can do it -- one was a really bad decision (three-wood from an odd lie that had to carry water) and the other was a disaster (pulled a tee shot on a par-3, pitch from an uphill lie in soft grass into a bunker, bad bunker shot... good pitch hit a tree branch and into another bunker, out of bunker and down in two for a 7).  Although it could be argued I didn't focus on a good near-GIR, as the pin was front and there were no hazards short of the green, so I could have hit a 7-iron instead of 6-iron (needed for pin + 5 yards, my target distance on forward pins) and had a near-guaranteed near-GIR and likely worst-case 4.

Prior to yesterday I thought I'd have to improve quite a bit to avoid sixes.  Now I think I can do it with my existing (and improving) skills.  And I have a few ideas for my next round at my home course where I think I haven't really been considering shot zones in how I play each hole.  I really wish I had hole-by-hole strokes gained over time data.

Finally! i gather around a decent round on my club´s championship qualifier and shoot a 73 (+1) with no sixes to lead by one.
I upload the only evidence i have. I putted for birdie in all par 5´s and have no penalties. They are all kind of short but they almost always play against strong winds.

Thanks.

Stopped using GG about a year ago. Had some issues with the app and starting rounds, charging it now and will try it again tomorrow.

I'm not sure which more people will find more annoying… that you're playing this much golf, or that you're getting this many non-six rounds. ;-)

    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
