Is There Anything Hank Haney Won't Sell?

Is there anything this guy won't put his mug in front of? I'm not a big fan of golf training gizmos in general. I find most of them quite humorous although I did buy that 5-iron with the hinge, I forget what it was called, about 20 years ago. (It was not useless.) But I happened to be watching the Golf Channel this morning and saw a new thingy, the "B1 Blue Strike" which Mr. H says is the greatest innovation in golf training aids since the last greatest thing he bloviated about. It's like a an Impact Snap in the form of a full size iron and claims to provide the correct feel for not flipping, eliminates casting, and might cure cancer, but I stopped paying attention so that last part may not be entirely correct.

Anyway, I'm working on eliminating my own tendency to cast and had planned on doing it the old fashioned way, with lots of work at the range and failing that, taking a lesson or two, but I saw this ad this morning and just started thinking...

It might be just me but I find Haney annoying on several different levels. He has a condescending way of talking to people, whether he's providing tips or just expressing an opinion and I get the impression he'll shill for just about any product as long as he's paid, therefore I tend to ignore pretty much anything he says but I just wondered whether if he rubs other people the same way as he does me.

And if anyone has used anything that helps with casting, I'll listen.

I wrote to see if we might be able to do a review of this. Can't hurt to check it out.

Inline Impact is "Key #3" in the 5 Simple Keys® system, and we often have a lot of success working on this with golfers by working on Keys #1 and #2. We almost never have to work on Key #3 directly.

This looks like a combination of a couple of training aides.

I assume you are talking about the Impact Snap. It kind of combines the Speed Stik with the Tour Striker Educator without the shaft.   I made my own patterned after the Speed Stik, with a sliding "birdie ball" and if I then stuck the Educator in the grip end it would accomplish the same things. ref: Hacker Whacker video.

To help prevent casting, picture yourself at home plate on a baseball diamond. Your alignment, especialy your shoulders, is square to the pitcher's mound, and through second base, into center field. Then just swing the club to right field. It's not unlike swinging at a pitch that is low, and outside. Tough to cast while doing this, and allows you to focus on delaying the release.

I know this is old but I watched the video and the Blue Strike is nothing like the Impact Snap. The Blue Strike appears to be the same thing if you swung a Tour Striker club while wearing a Swingyde. It has the beveled edge so you’ll thin it if you flip and the bar hits your trail wrist if you flip as well. Hell I’ll try anything.

What I envisioned was the Tour Striker club outfitted with the Tour Striker Educator! I never bought the club, but I did buy the Educator. I still haven't figured out how to use the thing. Every time I tried, I couldn't hit the ball out of my shadow! It sits in a drawer somewhere. That was the last gizmo I bought.

Tour Striker, that club Breed boasts that has the sweet spot as steel and the toe/heel as rubber, Swingyde, impact snap, Arm extender, Watson Hanger, and a closet of plenty more I probably don’t remember. I should take them all to the range at once just for a laugh ....

    • It's been a little more than a year since I can last remember hitting golf balls and today I just got my second cortisone injection in 11 months. I thought maybe shortly after the first injection I was going to be able to start playing again with therapy but the pain while doing my backswing past halfway just didn't subside like just lifting my hands up in the air did. So today the Orthopedic surgeon put more in the backside of the shoulder than before to address the tendon more. I'm going to try therapy for another 3 months and if I  can't swing the club without pain then I think surgery is going to be my next option.
    • I was just down visiting family in southern California and we played a couple rounds of golf. I hit my ball into the deep rough near some tree's and my cousin's husband offered me his Sim 2 Rescue Hybrid to try out. And I felt the same way, wow! I loved it, it also had a Pure DTX grip on it which I loved. As soon as I got back home, I ended up buying two used Calloway Rogue X hybrids, 3 and 5. So far I've only tested them out at the range, but I love them. They're much more forgiving than irons for me.
