Has anybody heard about the Kirkland ball, i.e., when it is going to come out again, (if at all)? I saw good reviews of the ball and have been checking Costco regularly but to no avail. And of course no one at Costco know anything about it. Sure would love to try them.

the search function - it was a bit of a stir here for a bit.  I've found two in the last year

I checked with Costco, all they said was they were out of stock and their web site would be updated when the stock is replenished.

Absolutely no help

They sell out very fast. Usually within an hour before they announce they have them. :-D

I tried to buy some from Costco as well, but ended up buying a few from a friend and found a few of them.

They're really good, but it's not like they're better than ProV1 or B330 or anything? They feel a bit like ProV1 but are made by Nassau, I think?

Wait until the euphoria dies down a bit and when Costco finally starts ordering enough of them.

Bear in mind that the "new" Costco ball is not going to be at all the same as the last one, the one that created all the buzz.

Really, they are changing it? Why would they do that?

I'm not going to get into the details, but "they" don't do anything. They just bought overstock of another ball, and that ball is no longer available to them.

So they opened a new Costco near my house today, and I and the wife went down and signed up, and I saw these Kirkland balls in there for about $15 per dozen.   So I bought 4 dozen.   A couple of other guys were buying the limit, which was 10 dozen per shopper, and those guys swore these are great golf balls.   "As good as a ProV1!!" one of them said.

The box says it's a 4-piece ball with a urethane cover.

I have no idea.  I'm going to give them a shot.

I watched a head to head comparison done by Mark Crossfield, (you can find him on YouTube), between the Kirkland ball and either the Pro V1 or the Chrome, (I forget). As a teaching Pro he found little to no difference between the two, both on the launch monitor and on the course. Interesting to watch and that is why I have been looking for them especially given the price.

I still think those were a "different" ball.

Dean Snell has answered the question a few times. Titleist has sued Costco. Etc. Click here for more.

How would you guys actually the the difference between Costco 1.0 and Costco 2.0. I'll admit that I am  not consistent enough to judge if  extra yardage was just a better hit or the ball.

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

Agreed, highly likely it’s a different ball.  Although I don’t imagine Costco would risk putting out a crap ball either, based on the positive results of the first one.

The new Kirkland ball states the manufacturer is SMG Global (which has manufacturing facilities in South Korea).

The first Kirkland ball was a Nassau overrun (which are also manufactured in South Korea... along with many brands).

Those comparisons are for the “original” Kirkland ball, not the new version.  So I wouldn’t rely on those for the new version.

Why wait around for them, they’re nothing special compared to value brands.  Just pick up a Snell value pack (Crossfield did a review on those as well, FYI)

That ball is like a unicorn. I’ll believe it when I see one.

I am playing Snell Get Sum and On Core Avant right now. Those are good enough for me and at the right price point.

That article you linked (August 15, 2017) says the new Kirkland ball would be 3-piece ball.  The balls I bought yesterday say on the box that they are are 4-piece balls.   I don't believe Costco would mislabel these balls.  So either the article is in error, or I purchased some of the "old" balls yesterday.

Edit: Also, the balls I bought yesterday say "Tour Performance" on the seam, which, according to the "USGA Conforming Golf Ball List" of February 7, 2018, is the 4-piece ball, and not the 3-piece ball your linked MyGolfSpy article said would be the new Kirkland ball.

It sounds like you got some of the old stuff.
